  • Accra, Black Star Square, Independence Monument

This Everbright vintage B&W card dates from 1968. It’s oversized and crumpled a bit on edges so that it would fit in a box. Never used, it has some edge and corner creasing, and frankly was never too beautiful. Grade: 4

    Price: $4.50

  • Accra, Osu Castle

Two B&W cards are available. They date from 1968. Both were mailed from Accra. One has four stamps but no legible postmark; minor edge abrasions but not damaged otherwise (Grade: 1, $14). The other has two stamps but postmarks again are not legible and there is significant crumpling around the edges and corners (Grade: 3, $8).

  • Damongo, Larabanga Mosque

B&W unused WAC 106 card from mid-1960s, though it’s a timeless scene. Some aging on reverse. We have to say that Ghana is a far more colourful country than these cards suggest. Grade: 1

    Price: $4.50

  • Drying of cocoa beans

This B&W card was mailed from Accra in 1968. It has two stamps, and legible postmarks. Considering where it was mailed, and when, the card is in virtually perfect condition. Grade: 1

  • Senya Beraku Fort

This card, bought in 1968 and indexed WAC2, was never mailed, and apart from gently aged reverse is in great condition. The photo looks faded but that’s what the card was like when it was new. Grade: 2

    Price: $4.50

  • Accra, Christiansborg Castle

  • Greetings from Ghana

We have no way of knowing, but somehow doubt this unused Ewool card ever saw Ghana.  Nevertheless, here it is.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20421008

    Price: $1.00

    Greetings from Ghana
  • Kwame Nkrumah

This postcard was issued by the Ghanaian government in Accra in 1958 “Commemorating Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah’s Visit to U.S.A. and Canada”.  There’s a Gold Coast stamp, with Ghana Independence overprint; and clear postmark.  No address, so the card was not mailed.  A small flying insect got pressed into the bottom reverse–adds character.  Grade: 3

    Code: 20421009

    Price: $9.00

  • Dressed for Adowa Dance

In one of the more memorable messages we’ve seen, Ethel tells Marion the weather in Ghana is “like Michigan”.  We’ve been to both, and that’s a stretch.  Mailed with stamp and postmark.  Grade: 1
