  • High class Household

As with several of these older cards, because we can’t read the captions (yet), we don’t know what country they represent. This one is clearly either today’s Korea, China, or Japan. So for now, we just list the card under Asia. The card is unused, obviously quite old, and we would agree that the family looks like the English caption says: High class. Grade: 3

    Code: 20300001

  • Crossing a gorge

As soon as we know what country this is in, we’ll reassign it. Meanwhile, if those are people up there–and we think they are–we hope they survived the trip. Unused card.  Grade: 2

    Code: 20300002

    Price: $5.00

  • Distant view of city

We have no idea where this is, and the old caption doesn’t help much. Could be China, could be Korea, could be Japan. Help!! Unused real-photo. Grade: 3

    Code: 20300003

    Price: $18.50

    Distant view of city
  • Home compound

We don’t know where this is. Our first guess would be China, our second guess would be Japan. In any event, it’s definitely northern Asia and there’s no dispute over the atmosphere the real-photo sepia-toned unused card creates. No, there’s no caption. Grade: 3

    Code: 20300004

    Price: $12.00

    Home compound
  • Alfresco barber shop

Unused card, clearly a Chinese location but otherwise unidentified as to where. Grade: 3

    Code: 20300005

    Price: $1.00

    Alfresco barber shop
  • Barber shop

We can suppose this unused card’s photo is from a Chinese-speaking country because there are Chinese characters on the calendar, but we’re guessing this is in Southeast Asia somewhere. Grade: 2

    Code: 20300006

    Price: $1.00

    Barber shop
  • Traditional Performances

We have no idea where this card comes from.  It was mailed in Malaysia in 1986, with Malaysian stamp and postmark.  The captions are in Japanese, possibly some Chinese, and English.  One of these photos is a Suwa Dance, which we associate with India.  At least the card is fully international.  Grade: 3

    Code: 20300007

    Price: $1.00

    Traditional Performances
  • Sarawak ladies

This is an unused card with faint address lines on the reverse, but no caption.  It would date from roughly the 1970s or maybe early 1980s, and we know from the source that the photo was taken in Sarawak, East Malaysia.  It is precisely what Malaysians might call a “homely” scene.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20300008T

    Price: $5.00

  • Native Handicrafts (East Malaysia)

We list this unused card under “No Specific Country” because the caption writer decided not to tell.  But we know, and can guarantee, that this scene is from East Malaysia (Borneo).  Grade: 1

    Code: 20300009

    Price: $1.00
