    Price: $6.00

Cendrawasih – Red bird of paradise
  • Red bird of paradise

Paradisaea rubra on this unused, official card issued by Post PNG.  Or maybe not Paradisaea rubra, because the caption on the back says “Paradisaea raggiana is the national bird of Papua New Guinea…” and goes on to describe that species’ status.  Three of these cards are available.  Grades: 1

    Code: 20321004

    Price: $6.00

    Red bird of paradise
  • East New Britain, Discover

Unused card (with Tavurvur volcano in the background), no additional captioning.  The card’s reverse is very richly coloured and putting a message on there would challenge both the writer and the postal workers.  Two of these cards are available.  Grades: 1

    Code: 20321005

    Price: $3.00

    East New Britain, Discover
  • Milne Bay Province, Kitava Island

Unused, official card from Post PNG.  While the caption describes Milne Bay’s situation within the national geography, we will add that Kitava is one of four major islands in the Trobriand Islands archipelago.  So this is a remote location.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20321006

    Price: $8.00

    Milne Bay Province, Kitava Island
  • Kokoda Historical

Technically not a postcard because the reverse is fully printed, this is an ad card for a private guide.  In return for listing the card, we’ll happily leave contact details visible.  It’s a well-travelled but arduous trek.  Grade: 2

    Code: 20321007

    Price: $3.00

    Greetings from Kokopo Rabaul
  • Greetings from Kokopo Rabaul – multiple views

If you don’t know Rabaul’s history–and we admit, we didn’t–it’s worth seeing the Wikipedia entry, at least.  With that in hand, being there and standing on those shores conveys a range of thought and imagination.  Unused card.  Grade: 1

    Price: $6.00

  • East New Britain Province, Mask Festival, tubuans and participants

Official card issued by Post PNG.  The caption describes Rabaul’s volcanic destruction but misses the chance to explain anything about the Festival.  Tubuans and Duk Duk are something we may never fully understand.  We have two of these unused amazing postcards (Grades: 1, $8), and one other with large stamp and clear Kokopo postmark but no handwriting, so it’s ready to go (Grade: 1, $16).

    Price: $5.00

Milne Bay Province, Nuratu Island, MV Tiari

  • Stamp Post Card – Stamps of the XV Pacific Games (2015)

Unused and official Post PNG card whose somewhat more expensive price reflects the K6.20 pre-paid postage printed on the back.  (Some irony there.)  Grade: 1

    Price: $7.00

Stamp Post Card – Stamps of the XV Pacific Games (2015)

Port Moresby wharf & city at dusk
  • Port Moresby, Bomana War Cemetery

Unused, official card from Post PNG, with pre-printed “Postage Paid – No additional Postage required” in the stamp area.  (Strictly speaking, however, this was not true for at least one postal clerk, who insisted on K6.80 to send the card out of the country.)  Grade: 1

    Code: 20321027

    Price: $6.00

    Port Moresby, Bomana War Cemetery
  • East New Britain Province, Rabaul, looking across Simpson harbour

Official card from Post PNG.  The view from this “volcanoe observatory” is even more expansive than it seems on this postcard.  The card has a large stamp with full Kokopo postmark from 2017 but no other handwriting — so you could send this card to yourself, right from your home.  Grade: 1

Unused, official Post PNG card with the standard East New Britain Province caption and then this add-on:  “The ever popular and locally grown Mandarin (lemon) at the Kokopo Market”.  We have two cards.  One is unused (Grade: 1, $5) and the other has a large stamp and equally large Kokopo postmark but no other handwriting (Grade: 1, $11).

    Code: 20321032

    Price: $5.00

East New Britain Province, Rabaul – Mandarins at Rabaul market
  • Rabaul, WWII Japanese Barge Tunnel

As of this writing, the scene pictured on this card is not overly commercialised or developed — but that may change before too long.  Unused card from Post PNG, with this in the stamp area:  “Domestic Postage Paid Papua New Guinea – Additional Postage required if sending overseas”.  We’re also guessing there is not a lot of domestic postcard traffic in PNG.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20321033

    Price: $7.00

    Rabaul, WWII Japanese Barge Tunnel
  • Morobe Province, Mumeng District, Snake River Valley

    Code: 20321034

    Price: $8.00

Morobe Province, Mumeng District, Snake River Valley
  • Milne Bay Province, Samarai Island, old anglican church building

Unused card, official, from Post PNG in 2013.  The caption is about the Province, not the church.  For that, you need Google.  Grade: 1

    Price: $5.00

Milne Bay Province, Samarai Island, old anglican church building
  • Milne Bay Province, Samarai Island – remaining structure of the main wharf

    Price: $5.00

Milne Bay Province, Samarai Island – remaining structure of the main wharf

Unused 4-7/8″ x 6-3/4″ Hyndsight views card No. 18, whose caption identifies the houses as (Top) near Goroka, (Centre) Karu in New Ireland Province, and (Right) Sepik.  (You might wonder about “Right” … right!)  The stamp area bears this legend:  “I like to be seen.  PLEASE don’t send me in an envelope.”  We totally agree with that idea, even though the chance of successful arrival seems much lower.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20321038

    Price: $6.00
