Total: 10 postcards

  • St. Thomas, Charlotte Amalie

Special for a few reasons, including scarcity of cards from this location, and very large (and full) 1954 postmark from an American naval vessel, the U.S.S. Niobrara.  There’s a 6-cent US Airmail stamp, and a message from a sailor who clearly enjoyed his situation.  Grade: 2

    Code: 20114001

    Price: $9.00

  • Christianstad, Courtyard of Government House

Mailed in 1957, the postmark is there but the stamp is gone.  We are guessing these two were on their honeymoon!  Grade: 4

    Price: $1.00

    Christianstad, Courtyard of Government House
  • Saint Thomas, Magens Bay Grove

  • Charlotte Amalie, Saturday Morning Traffic

An unused old postcard, onto which some vendor along the way penciled “Virgin Islands” on the reverse.  That can be erased.  Before we make more entries into this category, we need to make full disclosure that we know there are different jurisdictions for the Virgin Islands and that the U.S. one should probably be listed under “USA and Territories” as Puerto Rico and Guam are.  Well, sometimes we are inconsistent.  Anything we have from any Virgin Island is right here.  Grade: 2

    Code: 20114010

    Price: $3.00

  • Peter Island, Sunset across Little Harbour (BVI)

We should, we know, differentiate between the different political entities — as we should for both Irelands — but until we get around to that, just accept this unused card from the British side.  It has an uncancelled stamp in the right place on the reverse, maybe placed there by the original vendor.  Grade: 2

    Code: 20114011

    Price: $3.00
