  • Fisherman’s Wharf (San Francisco)

It might be great fun to start a specialised collection of Fisherman’s Wharf cards, tracing from what it was to what it is now. This unused linen entry from Nature Tone Views, Scenic View Card Co., #43672 and #27, goes back to the 40s or earlier and refers to the “gay, colorful fishing boats.” Umm…, aged but in good shape otherwise.  Grade: 2

    Code: 33400029

    Price: $4.50

    Fisherman’s Wharf (San Francisco)

  • East coast fishing village (Malaysia)

Yes, the east coast really does look like this–in a few places.  This card was mailed in 1991 with a Pahang stamp and full Kuantan postmark, but as you see there is massive postmark transfer on the front.  Grade: 3

  • Fishing boat (Malaysia)

This 5″ x 7″ card was mailed in 1991 with a Terengganu stamp and full if very faint postmark.  There is a pinhole through the lower left corner.  While not the only time this happens, it’s a sort of oddity that there are two different yet official spellings of “Trengganu” in the stamp and the postmark.  Grade: 4

    Code: 33400037

    Price: $3.00

Two cards are available.  For the mailed one, not only is the message written upside down, the year inside the postmark is upside down, and the card itself was mailed (with a 5-cent commemorative Nebraska Statehood stamp) from Hilo, Hawaii.  All that notwithstanding, the card is in good shape (Grade: 1, $3).  The other one is unused (Grade: 1, $3).

    Code: 33400044

    Price: $3.00
