Code: 10121003

Grantsville, Holiday Inn

Somebody stayed here and grabbed a handful of cards, so we wound up with eight of them.  Six are unused and fine (Grade: 1, $1.50).  One is heavily aged on the reverse (Grade: 3, $1).  One has an ink scribble across the back (Grade: 4, .50).

Howard Memorial Library, New Orleans (USA)

Code: 33900043
Price: $3.00
Howard Memorial Library, New Orleans (USA)

Some vintage postcards are old and stained and just look tired.  This one is old and stained and is full of character, like old battle scars.  Undivided back, mailed in 1905 with stamp and clear postmark.  We must grade it accurately, but if you are looking for classic library postcards, this will do.  Grade: 4

Library of Congress, Grand Stairway

Code: 10109027
Price: $5.50
Library of Congress, Grand Stairway

Unused Photo-Electrotype Eng. Co., N.Y., card published by Mrs. Howard Grey Douglas of Washington.  A very old postcard, the front is in excellent condition and the back is significantly aged, along with corner album marks.  Grade: 3

Minneapolis, Minnehaha Falls in Winter

Code: 10124069
Price: $4.00
Minneapolis, Minnehaha Falls in Winter

Such a nice, formal message between two ladies on the reverse of this card, mailed in 1954 with a 2-cent stamp but no identifying postmark.  Grade: 2

Monterey, Harbor

Code: 10105221
Price: $2.50
Monterey, Harbor

Mailed in 1958 with full postmark ("Pray for Peace") and two-cent stamp, this card has normal edge abrasions for having been handled quite a bit.  Grade: 3

Mystic Seaport, Main deck of Charles W. Morgan

Code: 10107003
Price: $1.00
Mystic Seaport, Main deck of Charles W. Morgan

Mailed in Old Lyme in 1967 with full postmark and 4-cent stamp, this card is heavily aged on the reverse and has a significant crease across the lower part of the card.  It is also from the accumulation of the Charles Girard family, a point we will only mention once or twice and leave the remainder of their wonderful collection to speak for itself.  Grade: 4

New Orleans, Howard Memorial Library

Code: 10119060
Price: $3.00
New Orleans, Howard Memorial Library

Some vintage postcards are old and stained and just look tired.  This one is old and stained and is full of character, like old battle scars.  Undivided back, mailed in 1905 with stamp and clear postmark.  We must grade it accurately, but if you are looking for classic library postcards, this will do.  Grade: 4

North Front, White House

Code: 10109024
Price: $6.50
North Front, White House

This card was published by W.B. Garrison, Inc.  The front shows corner creasing and abrasion, and the reverse is unused apart from the beginning of a name someone wrote in ink many years ago, always leading us to wonder--how is it possible to get through half of a name and no further?  Anyway, Grade: 4

Religious Department Building

Code: 20304017
Price: $3.50
Religious Department Building

S.W. Singapore card BR6577, mailed from Malaysia (not Brunei) in the early 1990s with a Melaka stamp.  Some white correction fluid used in the message area.  Grade: 4

Unused old B.S. Reynolds card R-48699, in great condition.  Full title:  "Washington Declining Overtures from Cornwallis at Yorktown, Va.," a fresco by Brumidi.  Grade: 1
