    A good card of a dismal event. The fire was in 1996; the card was mailed in 1999, using three stamps of which only one was postmarked, and that mark is legible. There’s a blue tri-lingual airmail sticker affixed, and the US Postal Service has, again, graciously imprinted their orange barcode across the front. Grade: 2

    An unused Valentine & Sons card, #500,865, from Capetown. Well-aged, unmarked apart from minor corner indentations where it had once been in an album, and with a giant whiff of being patronising.  Grade: 2

    Issued by Hongkong Post in 2012, this is a set of six different cards, each showing a different breed of dog with corresponding Maximum Card stamp.   Of the six sets we have available now, two have special “Working Dogs in Government Services” postmarks; two have special “Philatelic Bureau” postmarks; and two have “GPO” postmarks.  Prices are the same regardless.  Each set in original Hongkong Post cellowrap.  The sets include a card of a Labrador Retriever, used as a Fire Investigation Dog.  Grades: 1

    The writer translates this as “There is brothers fine so like bull cattle.”  Google Translate translates this as “It is place for the brother of a series, like the noble bull bull.”  Writers are human, and Google Translate may need to sharpen up its Finnish.  Either way, the card was mailed in 2012 with two stamps and Tampere postmark.  Grade: 1
