Brasilia – DF – Supreme Federal Court

Starting a series of cards showing Brazil’s capital, we thought we might use some extra space and give you this extract from Wikipedia: “Brasília is the federal capital of Brazil … located atop the Brazilian highlands in the country’s center-western region. It was founded on April 21, 1960, to serve as the new national capital. Brasília and its metro (encompassing the whole of the Federal District) had a population of 2,556,149 in 2011, making it the 4th most populous city in Brazil. Brasília was planned and developed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer in 1956 in order to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location. The city’s design divides it into numbered blocks as well as sectors for specified activities, such as the Hotel Sector, the Banking Sector and the Embassy Sector.”  Unused, mildly aging postcard.  Grade: 2
