Strusshamn, houses and boat
Strusshamn is a village in the municipality of Askøy, one of the cultural centers of the municipality, and well-known for its long maritime traditions and history. Wooden buildings here date back to around 1800; the village was used in the 18th and 19th centuries as the quarantine harbour for Bergen. Strusshamn is connected to Bergen by the Askøy Bridge. Note that we don’t normally give background information for every town in the website, but this short series of cards came from a close friend of our close friend, and we want to acknowledge how sources like these were instrumental in building the site to what it is now.
