Bujumbura, Place de la Revolution
Two are available, B&W real photos produced as postcards but without commercial printing on reverse. One was mailed in 1968 and has three very large stamps, but postmarks aren’t quite legible. Front has smudge; reverse is full of stamps and message (Grade: 2, $16). The other was never mailed and has words “Bujumbura, Burundi” in small letters at bottom of reverse (Grade: 3, $8)

Not beautiful but an awful lot of atmosphere. This locally produced B&W card (Abiyeretsi b’Uburundi) was mailed in 1968, has the stamp and legible postmarks. Slight smudge on front, otherwise just a well-travelled and exotic card. Grade: 2

Is it really the source of the Nile? This G. Mailet cimcrome card was bought in 1974, never mailed, has minor corner abrasions, and a gently aged reverse with small price mark pencilled on corner. Grade: 3

Bujumbura, church
This real photo was sold in 1972 as a B&W postcard, and it’s the right size, but there is no printing on the reverse. The word “Burundi” is inked in tiny letters on reverse, which is also a bit stained. Grade: 3

Livingstone and Stanley rock
Two of these are available. As with others in this set, they were sold as postcards (in 1968) though have no commercial printing on reverse. One was mailed, has three large butterfly stamps and postmark. Bottom 25% of card was waterstained during posting process. Corners are creased a bit (Grade: 4, $11). The other was never mailed; it has the word Burundi printed in small letters at bottom reverse, and there is some smudging (Grade: 3, $5)

Locally produced ~1950s B&W card, unused, front in terrific condition but reverse is smudged and has a small price mark on upper right. Do you know abavuzi b’ingoma? This kind of vintage postcard was probably never “new.” Grade: 3

B&W Mutima Mutagatifu card, locally produced, never mailed. Front is about as it was when it was new, but this was never a beautiful card. Reverse has aged and has a small price marked in upper right corner. Grade: 3
