This folio (here, you see the outer wrap) contains four unmailed maximum cards that can be described as embossed woodblock, each with an engraving and–along with the engraving on the front–an equivalent stamp with 2007 postmark.  See entry 20307225B for an example of one of the cards.  These were issued by the China National Philatelic Corporation, and there’s a historical description in Chinese and English on the reverse of the folio cover.  Grade: 1

Similar to our earlier series of Lunar New Year cards, except that this one was mailed, with the pre-printed stamp next to an additional “real” one.  Full postmark.  Grade: 1

Although this is a homemade card, it’s well done, has two different stamps and two full postmarks.  We think that’s enough to qualify it for entry.  Hard to grade, but we will say:  Grade: 3

This card was issued by PR China’s State Postal Bureau, has a pre-printed stamp, a large additional stamp, a full postmark, and assorted other indications on the reverse.  There is no doubt whatsoever that if you can read Chinese, you will know all about this photo, and this card.  Grade: 3

This folio of ten unused cards is similar to 20307237, but fewer and different cards.  Grade: 1

So why China?  Because the card has a Chinese caption, and was mailed in China in 2011 with two large stamps and full postmark.  Grade: 2

Large (5″ x 8-1/4″) card somewhat battered after having been mailed in 2011 with six identical stamps.  Two barely readable postmarks, and red bilingual Par Avion chop.  This card shows the China Pavilion at this recent well-publicised event.  Grade: 3

This item measures 4″ x 6″.  A paper slide-through sleeve with a cellophane window contains six (unused) cards, with each card embossed and showing a different mood of the mascot for these games:  Brave, Overjoyed, Proud, Curious, Clever, and–apparently–Happy.  The cards are each pre-printed with 80 fen postage.  There’s also a special holographic sticker of authenticity on the reverse cover.  Ask us and we’ll be happy to scan one of the sample cards for you.  Grade: 1.

From arguably the most dynamic city in the world (think “Jetsons”), a wonderful art card mailed in 2010 with stamp and special commemorative postmarks.  Grade: 1

This is a heavy, unused, unique item issued by China Post.  First, it measures about 8-3/8″ long, by 4-7/8″ high, by 5/8″ deep.   Translucent plastic encloses two things:  (1) a book (entirely in Chinese) including several pages of postcards with stamps pre-printed and also alongside the cards, making them look like admission tickets to various amusement or scenic venues; also some advertising (!) and what might be a phone card, though we’re not sure; and (2) another similar but somewhat larger book doing much the same thing.  We have not seen anything like this before.  But it looks like it would get you into almost anything of interest in the entire Guangdong Province, and postcards are at the heart of it all.  Magnificent!  Grade: 1.

This is a set of ten detached postcards, issued by China Post, each with postage pre-printed on the reverse.  Bilingual captions (Chinese and English) on each card explain the relevance of such traditional activities (“elements”) as Chinese tea culture, Peking Opera, and Blue and White porcelain.  Most of the cards portray repeating patterns of whatever they describe.  Which–in itself–makes this hard to describe, but it’s a very nice, even elegant, set of postcards.  And two sets are available.  Grades: 1

The 16th Asian Games were held in Guangzhou in 2010.  Like the Olympics, there was a torch relay through 21 Chinese cities.  This heavy book of pre-printed stamped postcards, issued by China Post, each with its own different postmark according to city, covers all 21 of the cities hosting the torch.  Each unused postcard highlights a special view of the respective city.  A unique item.  Grade: 1
