Showing 521–560 of 1037 postcards

  • Dian Cang Zhong Guo Gu Zhen (set) – cover

Please read these notes along with those for 20307509B, C, and D.  This item (scan 509A shows the cover) is in a box measuring 11-5/8″ x 12″ x 1-1/4″.  Open the lid of the box, and you see what we’ve photographed for 509B.  Everything here commemorates “Classical Chinese Traditional Villages.”  Inside the left cover page of this folio are what you see in 509C.  The ingot is real silver, a replica of the stamp you see on the Maximum Card.  The Maximum Card (issued in May, 2013) is made of textured wood:  the brown building is laminated, and projects out from the card.

Continuing, open the large book (509B) to find nine heavy leaves (pages) containing mint stamp sheets and stamp sheetlets, along with art and text about the old cities.  Along with the book, China Post has kindly provided a credit-card-sized “Certificate of Test” (509D), individually numbered, assaying that metal stamp.  This comes from “Guangdong jewelry testing center,” the “Guangdong jewelry quality supervision station,” and the card gives contact details just in case you don’t believe us!  This, like other China Post efforts, is quite an extraordinary item.  Unused, of course, and in great condition but we are assigning Grade: 2 only due to some bumping on the outer cover.

  • Gold and Bronze Buddha Statues Stamp Collection (with postcards)

The title for this item is not wrong, but slightly misleading for our purposes because the book has six postcards in it.  We will try to describe:  it’s a book inside a cardboard cover (pictured here), overall measurements 8-3/8″ x 11-1/4″.  Like many of the other items we have listed, this is a book of 16 page facings (inside covers plus seven pages) including stamp sheets, stamped envelope covers, and postcards in Maximum Card style except that none of these items have postmarks.  See 20307510B for one of the pages with a postcard.   Grade: 1

  • Beibei, 2008 Olympics Mascot

As originally issued by China’s State Postal Bureau, this card has pre-printed Olympics postage, then two more real stamps added for mailing in 2013.  Two postmarks also.  This must have been some kind of lottery card, as it also has a serial number.  The front art is printed with a motion effect:  not 3D, but a sort of holographic rotating stars.  Grade: 1

  • Shenzhou spacecraft programme (set)

We believe this item commemorates the totality of the Shenzhou element of China’s manned spaceflight programme.  You’ll need to see the scans for 20307525B,C, and D in addition to this one, which is the cover of a book measuring 9-3/8″ x 12″ x 1/2″.   As far as we can tell, up to the time of printing there had been ten Shenzhou (“Divine Land” in Mandarin) spacecraft.  The small dark thing you see in the middle of the circle is a metal token (coin) made from remains of Long March 2F, a manned orbital rocket.  See 525B,C, and D for more descriptions.    Grade: 1

Shenzhou spacecraft programme – first inside page (set)
  • Shenzhou spacecraft programme – separate sheet (set)

This is a separate sheet that comes with the book.  We might be missing some nuance of the instruction, but it looks like the idea is to scratch off the silver surface (and there are many) and key in the matched numbers with a password to join a lucky draw.  Prizes could have included joining a live show, “big prizes,” movie tickets … but only available until April 2014.  See also scans 20307525A,B, and D.

  • Year of the Snake postcards, currency, and more (set)

This bound item measures 8-5/8″ x 13″ x 1/2″ in its cardboard cover.  Scans 20307526A through E give you an idea of what’s inside.  Remove the sleeve and open to the inside front cover (526B) with text.  Facing that (not shown), a Happy New Year sheetlet with what looks like four stamps, but they’re not postage.  Turn the page to see two facing pages, each with many currency notes of special serial numbers.  Scan 526C shows one of those two pages; notes on the facing page are 1RMB and the serial numbers for those end in three identical numbers (111,222, etc.).  Several more thick pages follow, with actual stamp sheetlets, mint stamps, and the like.  Then three more facings, each with two pieces of joined postcards having pre-printed postage (scan 526D).  As if all that was not enough, on the inside back cover, see scan 526E — that’s a credit-card-sized 3D Buddhist blessing.  Grade: 1
