  • Welcome to Hong Kong (set of 5)

This is a set of five unused cards creatively sealed in what looks like a foil retort pouch (the type you can buy peanuts in).  It can’t be opened without destroying the packaging so we haven’t done that, but we could guess that some or all of the cards look like the photo in the scan.  No guarantee!  Various stickers on the back of the foil don’t affect the postcards.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308545

    Price: $9.00

  • Hong Kong Comic World (set)

This book of 21 cards was published by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in 2000, and contains full-colour covers of iconic local and international comic books.  All are captioned in Chinese and English, and the size of the set is 4-1/8″ x 6″ x 3/8″.  Unused, and a wonderful little glimpse into what molded today’s Movers and Shakers.  Grade: 1

  • Hong Kong Railway Museum (set of 10)

Beautiful set of ten unused cards in a cover,  issued by the museum in remote Tai Po Market.  The scan shows one side of the cover, and one of the cards, which collectively show a range of trains, equipment, and museum facilities and explain everything in English and Chinese.  We have three sets.  Grades: 1

    Code: 20308553

    Price: $22.00

Hong Kong Railway Museum (set of 10)
  • Revitalisation of Historic Buildings (set of 6)

We have no other postcards like these.  Issued by Hongkong Post as “Postage Prepaid Picture Card Series No. 48,” including pre-printed airmail postage, each of the six cards shows a different historic building that has been, well, revitalised.  The only convenient way to know what these buildings are is to look at very tiny writing on the pore-printed stamp–not on the front.  However these cards are really THICK and at the front bottom there’s a pull-tab that possibly lets the card stand up on its own, like a picture on a desk.  We’ve not tried.  Maybe this gives more information about the buildings, or maybe not.

We have four sets where the printed postage is not postmarked (Grades: 1, $34); one set where the cards are postmarked with first day of issue special “building blocks” postmark (Grade: 1, $39), and one set using the first day of issue GPO postmark (Grade: 1, $39).

  • Natural Charms – Butterflies (set)

Sold by Hongkong Post, and produced by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department as well as Friends of the Country Parks, this is a set of cards still in the original shrink wrap, unopened.  The photo you see here probably (we stress: probably) represents some of the cards inside.  The back of the cover has 11 more, different butterfly photos.  This suggests there could be something like 23 butterfly postcards inside but we don’t know.  That looks about right.  Two sets are available.  Grades: 1

    Code: 20308555

    Price: $29.00

  • Hong Kong Disneyland, Set C

You may compare these with sets A (item 36600017) and B (36600018).  These are sets of three unused cards in their original, unopened Cellophane wrap; but each card is wrapped individually and connected by the blue part at the top so they can all be seen clearly.  The three cards show Mickey and Minnie and others near a tram (pictured); near the Clock Tower at the Kowloon Star Ferry, with Hong Kong Island in the background; and in a composite night view.  Grade: 1

  • Funny Marine Life and Animals (4 sets of 25 in one parcel) – front

Hongkong Post calls this a “Postage Prepaid Postcard Prestige Gift Set,” and it is that.  The whole item comes in a hard cardboard container measuring about 9-1/2″ x 13-3/4″ x 1-1/4″, and this is encased in a thick, flexible plastic protective wrap.  It holds four sets of 25 postcards each:  a new one, Polar Adventure; and also Jellyfish (from 2008), Giant Pandas 9also 2008), and Amazing Asian Animals (2010).  See 20308557B for the best photo we could produce of the back cover.  As mentioned, these cards are postage pre-paid, and we have not opened the boxes.  Three sets are available.  Please ask about the special postage rate that will apply to this item.  Grades: 1

  • Polar Adventure (set)

As reference, this set is included as one of the four different sets in 20308557A/B.  Issued by Hongkong Post in 2013, this set of eight “lovely and precious animals viz. Arctic Fox, Gentoo Penguin, King Penguin, Northern Sea Lion, Pacific Walrus, Snowy Owl, Southern Rockhopper Penguin, and Spotted Seal” on postage-prepaid postcards measures about 7-1/2″ x 10″ and consists of the cards wrapped in a designed cover and further wrapped in heavy plastic.  We have eight sets available, all unused, but they differ in these ways:  four sets have no postmarks (Grades: 1, $28) and four sets have datestamped first-day postmarks (Grades: 1, $34).

  • Chinese Junk

Just not here any more.  We miss them.  Unused, aging card whose caption refers to “the background of Modern Buildings being the tourist centre in Kowloon.”  That’s partly true (on the right) but the majority of the background is Hong Kong Island.  Grade: 2

  • The 150th Anniversary of Stamp Issuance in Hong Kong (set)

A set of seven unused cards (“Postage Prepaid Picture Card Series No. 47”), issued by Hongkong Post, in their original Cellophane wrap.  The cards are preprinted with global Air Mail postage, and the scan shows one of the seven different cards.  We have a few sets available, some with special postmarks on the back and others without.  Just tell us what you’d like.   Grades: 1

  • Kowloon, Nathan Road

There’s no caption on this unused card, which is meant to represent any generic big city.  But we know where it is, because we go by that exact spot often.  Unused card.  Grade: 1

  • Hong Kong Disneyland (set of 5)

Not to be confused with our other sets of three cards, this is a (scarcer) set of five, in its original wrap.  We have scanned the back instead of the front–and deleted the original retail price–because it shows miniatures of all five cards.  Very iconic Hong Kong, indeed, and hard to get.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308563

    Price: $45.00

Hong Kong Disneyland (set of 5)
  • Hong Kong Science Museum (set of 6)

An open, but complete, set of six unused cards produced by the Science Museum in conjunction with the long-gone Urban Council.  The scan shows the paper sleeve (upper left) and three of the six cards.  The other three cards include a relief model of Hong Kong’s land area, a security robot on patrol in the museum, and “images made from the synchronization of a series of time-lapsed images taken by camera”.  The aircraft, not incidentally, is “Betsy,” a DC-3 built in 1942 and the first plane of Cathay Pacific Airways.  Grade: 1

  • The Peak, I (heart) You – The Peak Tram

This unused 5-1/8″ x 6-5/8″ card issued by Peak Tramways Company literally required us to go to Victoria Peak and spend money on other things we didn’t want, so we could then get these.   Grade: 1
