  • Chinese Festivals (Set of 4)

  • Historical Postcard Collections of Hong Kong (Set of 15)

Sealed in the original cello-wrap, so we do not know exactly what cards are inside.  The front says “Aerial View Collection of Hong Kong / The Beautiful Hong Kong,” and the reverse (not shown) says there are 15 postcards, and displays what may be more of them than what you see on the front.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308472

    Price: $29.00

Historical Postcard Collections of Hong Kong (Set of 15)
  • Hong Kong Delicacies (3D) (Set of 4)

Long explanation follows for these amazing cards.  Each set has four 4-1/4″ x 7-3/8″ cards, lenticular printing (3D) on heavy, heavy stock.  Each of the four cards has a food or drink typical of Hong Kong, and each card has a pre-printed stamp corresponding to the picture–like a Maximum Card, but not quite the same.  Hong Kong Post defines these as “Postage Prepaid Picture Card Series No. 48,” with the pre-printed stamp valid for airmail to anywhere.

We have 11 of these sets in total.  All are in their original cellophane wrap.  Five sets have no postmark.  Two sets have the special “Hong Kong GPO” postmark.  Two sets have a special “Philatelic Bureau” postmark.  The other two sets have a special “Hong Kong Delicacies” postmark.  Those without postmarks are US$22 per set.  Those with postmarks are US$26 per set (first day of issue).  Feel free to ask for more details, though we’re not sure what else we can say.  All are Grade: 1.

  • City Focus, Volume 2 (Set of 28)

See also entry 20308046, this is Volume 2, still wrapped in tattering plastic.  There are 28 postcards in this unused set, and based on the scenes on this front cover, they are going to be of Hong Kong urban views between the 1970s and the 1990s.  Nice little historical artifact to put away for awhile.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308503

    Price: $22.00

City Focus, Volume 2 (Set of 28)
  • Tai O Culture Workshop (Set of 6)

This set was hard to get.  Basically you needed to go to Tai O to find these, and Tai O is a famous but hard-to-reach village at Hong Kong’s extreme southwestern end, on Lantau Island.  Quoting the paper sleeve enclosing these six B&W unused cards, “Tai O Culture Workshop published a set of postcards in commemoration of this unique fishing village in a wish to share the unusual beauty with others.”  The photos are from the 1960s, the cards are newer.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308510

    Price: $16.00

Tai O Culture Workshop (Set of 6)
  • Tai O Fishing Village Postcard (Set of 8)

A much more elaborate unused set than the previous listing, with eight 5″ x 6-7/8″ colour cards wrapped by another 5″ x 13-3/8″ folded postcard (when opened), altogether enclosed by a full-colour cardboard photo sleeve as you see in the scan.  Whereas 20308510 showed Tai O life in the 1960s, this set is contemporary, published by the H.K.Y.W.C.A. Tai O Community Work Office.  Exceptional.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308511

    Price: $29.00

Tai O Fishing Village Postcard (Set of 8)
  • Diaoyu Islands (Set of 4)

The scan shows two of the four cards in each set, printed in 2012 and issued by the Action Committee for Defending the Diaoyu Islands.  The other two cards show persons with flags landing on the islands, and a horizon view of one island.  For a number of reasons, and we hope you can guess why, we suggest you do your own research into the background of this sensitive issue.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308517

    Price: $16.00

    Diaoyu Islands (Set of 4)
  • Hong Kong Busses (Set of 10)

A set of ten unused cards showing ten different Kowloon Motor Bus vehicles over the years, including but not limited to:  MCW Metrobus 11M, Volvo Wright B9TL, Neoman A34, Daimler E, and Mercedes Benz 0305.  If you’ve been noticing our different sets, this one is not the same as #20308362 or 20308363.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308518

    Price: $30.00

Hong Kong Busses (Set of 10)
  • Our Hot Dog’s Postcard (Set of 12)

This set of 12 unused cards is distinctive and nicely done.  It has nothing to do with hot dogs.  It’s a set of 12 cards of old Hong Kong busses in a variety of settings:  urban, rural, on the road, being inspected, etc.  Captions are all in Chinese.  The set is wrapped in heavy cardboard, and our scan shows the cover (which closes using a string tie similar to a mailing envelope) and one of the 12 cards.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308519

    Price: $36.00

Our Hot Dog’s Postcard (Set of 12)
  • Welcome to Hong Kong (Set of 5)

This is a set of five unused cards creatively sealed in what looks like a foil retort pouch (the type you can buy peanuts in).  It can’t be opened without destroying the packaging so we haven’t done that, but we could guess that some or all of the cards look like the photo in the scan.  No guarantee!  Various stickers on the back of the foil don’t affect the postcards.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308545

    Price: $9.00

Welcome to Hong Kong (Set of 5)
  • Hong Kong Comic World (Set of 21)

This book of 21 cards was published by the Hong Kong Heritage Museum in 2000, and contains full-colour covers of iconic local and international comic books.  All are captioned in Chinese and English, and the size of the set is 4-1/8″ x 6″ x 3/8″.  Unused, and a little glimpse into what molded today’s Movers and Shakers.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308552

    Price: $16.00

Hong Kong Comic World (Set of 21)
  • Hong Kong Railway Museum (Set of 10)

Set of ten unused cards in a cover,  issued by the museum in remote Tai Po Market.  The scan shows one side of the cover, and one of the cards, which collectively show a range of trains, equipment, and museum facilities and explain everything in English and Chinese.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308553

    Price: $22.00

Hong Kong Railway Museum (Set of 10)
  • Revitalisation of Historic Buildings (Set of 6)

We have no other postcards like these.  Issued by Hongkong Post as “Postage Prepaid Picture Card Series No. 48,” including pre-printed airmail postage, each of the six cards shows a different historic building that has been, well, revitalised.  The only convenient way to know what these buildings are is to look at very tiny writing on the pre-printed stamp–not on the front.  However these cards are really THICK and at the front bottom there’s a pull-tab that possibly lets the card stand up on its own, like a picture on a desk.  We’ve not tried.  Maybe this gives more information about the buildings, or maybe not.

We have four sets where the printed postage is not postmarked (Grades: 1, $34); one set where the cards are postmarked with first day of issue special “building blocks” postmark (Grade: 1, $39), and one set using the first day of issue GPO postmark (Grade: 1, $39).

  • Natural Charms – Butterflies (Set of 20+?)

Sold by Hongkong Post, and produced by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department as well as Friends of the Country Parks, this is a set of cards still in the original shrink wrap, unopened.  The photo you see here probably (we stress: probably) represents some of the cards inside.  The back of the cover has 11 more, different butterfly photos.  This suggests there could be something like 23 butterfly postcards inside but we don’t know.  That looks about right.  Two sets are available.  Grades: 1

    Code: 20308555

    Price: $29.00

Natural Charms – Butterflies (Set of 20+?)
  • Hong Kong Disneyland, Set C (Set of 3)

You may compare these with sets A (item 36600017) and B (36600018).  These are sets of three unused cards in their original, unopened Cellophane wrap; but each card is wrapped individually and connected by the blue part at the top so they can all be seen clearly.  The three cards show Mickey and Minnie and others near a tram (pictured); near the Clock Tower at the Kowloon Star Ferry, with Hong Kong Island in the background; and in a composite night view.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308556

    Price: $39.00

Hong Kong Disneyland, Set C (Set of 3)
  • Hong Kong Disneyland (Set of 5)

Not to be confused with our other sets of three cards, this is a (scarcer) set of five, in its original wrap.  We have scanned the back instead of the front–and deleted the original retail price–because it shows miniatures of all five cards.  Very iconic Hong Kong, indeed, and hard to get.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308563

    Price: $45.00

Hong Kong Disneyland (Set of 5)
  • Hong Kong Disneyland (Set of 3) (3D)

We waited a long time for these, and were not certain they would ever appear.  It’s an (unused) set of three 3D cards (lenticular printing) showing stylised Hong Kong scenes.  You already know that 3D cards don’t scan very well, but we show the fronts of all three, and the typical reverse of one.  In the original packaging.  Grade: 1

    Code: 20308598

    Price: $40.00

Hong Kong Disneyland (Set of 3) (3D)
