How nice to have a card that tells us exactly when the photo was taken. A Sanbride card, photo by Chinn, from 1905. Abraded corners, unused. It was once in an album and has those indentations as well as a remnant mark in upper right corner. Grade: 3

Old Dutch East Indies card, published by Tio Tek Hong, #38, ~1910, more or less. Bottom front has caption printed faintly in gold. Card has minor edge and corner abrasions on front; reverse is heavily aged. Never mailed. Grade: 3

Three cards are available. They were not issued by the Grand Hyatt, which is just as well, because the caption refers to something (the hotel? Jakarta?) “in its busy-ever night time,” which the card clearly isn’t. Two cards are unused (Grades: 1, $3) and one was mailed in 2012 with two large stamps, illegible postmark, and address label affixed (Grade: 2, $4).
