Sunset on the beaches of Malaysia
As we near the end of our supply of Malaysian postcards, it’s fitting that this is one of the first we ever sent. Those beaches yielded up some very interesting and memorable experiences. Excuse the diversion into nostalgia; we go back to reality now. This card was sent in 1977, with two different stamps and partly readable postmark. Grade: 1

Mailed in 1986 with three different stamps and partial postmark, along with blue bi-lingual “mel udara” airmail sticker affixed, this is just about as good as a reasonably contemporary Malaysian card can get. Grade: 1

This card was issued by the school itself, and was mailed probably in the late 1980s. The stamp is there, and part of a postmark. And if you’re interested, this building is Bangunan Kajian Perniagaan. Grade: 2

This 4-3/4″ x 6-3/4″ card has different views of Kuala Lumpur on the front, but the reverse is full of stickers, labels, two “train” stamps, and message. Mailed in 2011. Grade: 3

If you’re into Holiday Inn postcards–and we know many people are–you can’t miss this one, mailed in 1988 from Kuching with three stamps (two specific to Sarawak), full Kuching postmark, and blue Mel Udara label. Grade: 2

Kelantan, giant wau (kite)
Three cards are available, all mailed in the 1980s. One went out from Singapore (not Malaysia) with two different stamps and blue Mel Udara label (Grade: 3, $4). One has two stamps and most of a K. Lumpur postmark, with some creasing (Grade: 3, $3). The third card has five different stamps, the airmail sticker, but no legible postmark (Grade: 1, $6).

What a beautiful place this was (is), and so close to a big city–Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The card was mailed in 1993. It has two stamps but has been knocked around a bit on the reverse and it also has a post office’s extra barcode label. Grade: 4
