Ipoh, town centre
Two cards are here. They actually tell you the buildings will be torn down. One, mailed in 1990, has Perak stamp but only partly legible postmark, and also has orange barcode at bottom reverse. Front is near-perfect. (Grade: 3, $4). The other, mailed in 1991, is similar but without the postal bar code (Grade: 2, $4).

Ipoh, race course
For horse racing fans everywhere … if you’ve not heard how its done in Malaysia, it’s worth surfing around to find out. Three mailed cards are available, all from 1990. All: Grade: 1

Port Kelang, Selangor
Two cards available, mailed five years apart. One from 1986 has Selangor stamp, full postmark, and a small crinkle on upper left front corner (Grade: 2, $4). One from 1991 has stamp but no legible postmark; also pencilled notation of original price of card on reverse, and a postmark smudge on front (Grade: 3, $3).

Typical Malay house
Three cards are available, of this traditional (maybe not so much “typical” any more) Malay village house. Two mailed cards are near-perfect (Grade: 1, $4.50). One has two glitches–it was stamped but not postmarked, and the photo didn’t quite register with the edge of the cardboard backing, which sticks out just a little (Grade: 3, $3).

Pangkor Island
Three are available, in varying conditions. One mailed in 1986 has Johor stamp and full postmark, also a little postmark smudging on front and white correction fluid on reverse (Grade: 3, $4). One has completely full 1991 postmark but more smudging on front (Grade: 3, $4). One mailed in 1991 has Johor stamp and is just average (Grade: 3, $3.50).

Lumut
Two cards mailed in early 90s are available. One has Perak stamp, illegible postmark, and clean front (Grade: 2, $4). The other has a slightly better postmark but also a bit of smudge on front (Grade: 3, $3.50).

Kuala Trengganu, Maziah Palace Arch
Like some other places in Malaysia, Trengganu spells itself in different ways. We just follow the cards. Two from 1991 are here: one with stamp and full postmark (Grade: 1, $4) and the other just with less of a postmark (Grade: 2, $4).

Kuala Lumpur, Mimaland pool
Two cards are available, each mailed in 1986. One has a touch of white correction fluid on one typed letter (Grade: 2, $2.50). The other has Perak stamp and full postmark (Grade: 1, $4).

Besarah, Kg. Pantai, Kuantan
For those unfamiliar, this is a fishing village on the peninsular east coast. Three identical cards are available, all from 1991 and all with stamp and almost-legible postmark. They also have some extra handwriting made by the sender in Jawi (Arabic) script. Nice cards. Grades: 1

Two cards are available, mailed four years apart. The 1986 one is Grade: 1 ($3.50). The 1990 one has a full postmark but also a faint crease running vertically through the card (Grade: 4, $2).

Port Dickson, lighthouse
Rare addition for collectors of lighthouse cards, and yes, Malaysia has more than one. Here there are three cards available, mailed in 1991, one with full postmark (Grade: 1, $6) and two with partial marks (Grades: 2, $5.50).

Port Dickson, Blue Lagoon
Three cards mailed in 1991 are available. One is Grade 1 ($4), one is Grade 2 ($3.50), and one is Grade 3 ($3). By the way, this is not the Blue Lagoon from the cinema! Maybe it’s better now, but at the time, PD’s beach was not brilliant.

Four mailed cards are available, with stamp and postmark. Two are Grade 1 ($4), one is Grade 2 ($3.50), and one is Grade 4 ($2).

East coast, sunset (sic)
We like these little ironies. It’s entirely possible for there to be a sunset along the east coast but we wouldn’t normally think in those terms. Anyway … card mailed in 1986, stamp and partial postmark, some ink smudge on front. Grade: 3

Kuala Terengganu, coastline
We had some wonderful (hebat!) times in this area. Two cards, mailed five years apart, with stamp and partial postmarks. One Grade 2 ($4) and one Grade 3 ($3.50).

Four mailed cards available, one of Grade 1 ($5) and the others of Grade 2 ($4.50). All are very nice on the front.

East coast fishing boats
Two mailed cards are here. One from 1990 has stamp and mostly legible postmark, clean and nice (Grade: 1, $4). The other from 1991 has a bit of edge buffeting, stamp, full postmark, and also one big stain on reverse (Grade: 4, $2).

Two of these cards are available. Each was mailed in 1991 and has a stamp. One (Grade: 3, $4) has a legible postmark but a dent on the front. One (Grade: 3, $4) has partly legible postmark but message and adddress are pasted onto the card.

One was mailed in 1990, has its stamp and partly legible postmark, and abrasion on front (Grade: 3, $4). One was mailed in 1991 but has no postmark and has the message and address pasted on (Grade: 4, $3).

Three of these mailed cards are available. The first, in 1990, has stamp and legible postmark (Grade: 1, $5). The second, in 1991, has stamp but not legible postmark (Grade: 2, $4.50). The third, also in 1991, has a legible postmark but stamp perforations were trimmed off (Grade: 3, $4).

Two of these are available, both in the same general condition. They were mailed in 1991 and have stamps but not legible postmarks. We remember these New Year events–Petaling Street now has a big blue roof over it, and it’s not the same! Grade: 2

Two mailed cards are available. One was mailed in 1991 and has stamp and partly legible postmark. Only real problem is that it has many white-out corrections to the writing (Grade: 4, $3). The other doesn’t have a legible postmark but also has (less) correctional fluid (Grade: 3, $4).
