Mailed in 1990 and clean on the front, with slightly scrunched stamp and mostly legible postmark. Grade: 2

Two of these are available, both mailed in 1991. One has commemorative stamp intact but no legible postmark (Grade: 2, $2) and the other has a normal Pulau Pinang stamp intact and partly legible mark (Grade: 2, $2).

Two cards are available. One was mailed in 1991, with intact Pulau Pinang stamp and partly legible postmark. Some edge and corner abrasions (Grade: 3, $4). The other was mailed in 1990 with a commemorative stamp and nearly full postmark, and orange postal bar code on bottom reverse (Grade: 2, $3.50).

The mailed card’s OK but the stamp was cancelled with a ball-point pen, not with a postmark. Grade: 4

Malacca, Karnival Melaka 1988
Card of course from 1988 but mailed in 1990 with stamp and mostly legible postmark. Reverse has rapidly aged to a dark brown, unless it was printed that way, which we doubt. Grade: 2

Four of these oversized (5″x7″) cards are available, in identical condition. Mailed in 1991, intact stamp, legible postmark, and pencilled indication on reverse of original price of card. Excellent photos on an intriguing postcard of this famous Hindu festival, not for the squeamish however. Grade: 3

Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Petaling night market
Alas (from our point of view), this scene has also changed. Four 5″x7″ cards are available, all mailed in 1991, with single stamps and mostly legible postmarks. Two have more significant postal creasing (Grade: 3, $5) and the other two have minor edge abrasions but not the noticeable creasing (Grade: 2, $6).
