This is as the card describes itself along bottom margin. Printed in Japan, this card has faded and has mottling and slight staining front and back, with a red “chop” mark on reverse. It is a somewhat bleak card and hard to forget once you’ve seen it up close. Grade: 3

The manufacturer in Japan assigned this unfortunate title. Lost in translation? Card has English and Chinese printing along lower margin, Japanese printing on reverse, and small red “chop” mark on reverse. Never mailed, the vintage card has aged deeply brown against the B&W photo but has no creases or abrasions. Grade: 3

The bending rice ear
This 4″ x 7″ card, with rounded corners, was mailed in 2011. It has a massive stamp on the reverse, next to a trilingual airmail sticker. Some smudging on the front, and postal creasing, but it is a fine contemporary card representative of Taiwan. Grade: 2
