Kaohsiung, lighthouse
This 4-3/4″ x 8-1/4″ card would be a fine addition to any lighthouse postcard collection. Mailed in 2012, with stamp and postmark and very minor postal creasing for its size, it is largely captioned in what we assume to be correct Chinese, but there’s more in English and here it is: “Taiwan’s spirit of 24 hour Used the most simply way to essenced the a normal.” Yes. Grade: 2

-
Taipei horbor (sic) lighthouse
This is one of the clearest photographs we have of any lighthouse anywhere. A brilliant card on high-quality plasticised stock. The only problem is: we don’t know if it is a commercial card or whether one person made it to send for their own use. The caption is what you see as our header, only in English; the message on the card, which was mailed in 2012 with three different stamps, is only in Chinese. Please note that we do not know if this is a self-made card or not. Grade: 2
-
Girl cadets
Can anyone tell us the name of this organisation? Very unfortunately, this unused card is not dated–but the caption on the reverse refers to “17 million people who share a common desire for a democratic and prosperous future,” so maybe count backwards? Issued by the Freedom Council in Taipei. Grade: 3
-
The LI surname origins totem
Unused 5-1/4″ x 7-5/8″ card, of special interest we suppose if your name is LI or LEE. Grade: 1
-
Pingtung, Kenting National Park and Eluanbl (sic) Lighthouse
We know we have no other postcard like this. It is a 2-ply card (it doesn’t open up) framing a clear montage of Taiwan scenes on what may be a Cellophane or plastic insert in that map section: you can see through this. The scan shows the front of the card, with Kenting National Park. On the reverse, along with space for stamp and address, is a picture of Eluanbi Lighthouse. (Yes, you can still see those other photos through the map area.) All this is still in the original plastic wrap. Unused, Grade: 1

A short series of unused cards, all cut into the shape of the Island of Taiwan. Each of these cards in sequence is still in the original cellowrap. This one, a stylized rendition of “Double Happiness,” should be for someone about to be, or just, married. We think! Grade: 1
