Doi Kong Moo holds the cremated bone of the Buddha. There’s also a picture of Jong Klang Temple here. The card was mailed from Malaysia (not Thailand) in 1991, with Malaysian stamp and full postmark, but to be honest the front of the card looks a lot better than the reverse. Grade: 4

Kanchanaburi, Dead Railway Bridge
This view is of what many people call the Bridge over the River Kwai. It’s this card that calls it the Dead-Railway-Bridge. (We understand “Kwai” to mean “river” in Thai, anyway.) Two cards are available. One was not postally mailed but has a message written on the reverse (Grade: 4, $1.50) while the other is unused (Grade: 1, $3).

Thai bullfighting
The caption on the back of this unused card says “the animal vie against one another, not men, and blood is seldom shed.” That’s good news. Grade: 2

Northern Thailand, lotus pool
Two of these artistic cards are available. One is unused, so you can see all the postal rates printed on the back. They would have gone out of date quickly, thereby confusing everyone (Grade: 1, $4). The other was mailed in 1990 with three different stamps and illegible postmarks (Grade: 1, $5).

Traditional dishes (Thai Airways)
Many Asian foods are great. Thai dishes are our clear favourite. Five unused cards from Thai Airways are available: Three are Grade 1 ($2.50) and two are Grade 2 ($2). Also one mailed from Malaysia with stamp and 1994 postmark, but both sides are abraded (Grade: 4, $1.50), and finally another mailed from Malaysia in 1994 but not abraded and no legible postmark (Grade: 3, $2).

Sukhothai, Wat Mahatat
This card shows one of, if not THE premier archaeological site in Thailand. Difficulties in getting there make it relatively unspoiled still. Card was mailed in 1990, with stamp and legible postmark. Grade: 1

Modern, unused card of Bangkok’s new airport, where passengers who’ve already been there are praying their gate won’t be at the far end. Grade: 1

Our only quibble about this unused, modern card is that the photo is about as far away from normal Thailand as it is possible to get. Maybe that’s the attraction to it? Grade: 1

This photo was taken at the Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Kraal. Front of the card is as-new but the reverse is fully written with a message that was later mailed in an envelope. Grade: 4

This card from the 1970s is unused but has aged significantly on the reverse and has some ink transfer from another piece of paper, in the message area. Grade: 4

Two cards are available, from this enormously popular (and well-located) hotel. One is unused (Grade: 1, $3). The other was mailed in 1998 with some postmark smudging on the front margin but also with three different large and colourful stamps and partial postmarks on the reverse (Grade: 3, $8.50).
