Tirana, Skanderbeg’s Monument
This unused Aeditions card 1054 represents Albania postcards maybe better than most. The photographer did a good job, as the statue sits at one side of a massive public square that was eerily deserted on the summer Sunday we were there. Grade: 1
-
Tirana, plaza
Unused Aeditions card 1053. Many (most) cards from this company don’t bother with specific captions, preferring instead to repeat “View from Tirana” (or whatever location) over and over. Same here. Grade: 1
-
Tirana, Partial view of historical centre
Unused Aeditions card 758. Grade: 1
-
Valbona, river of rocks
Valbona postcards are not plentiful, and not too descriptive (“river of rocks” is our explanation, not the card’s), but the area is indeed beautiful and this particular sight is just adjacent to the only road going in and out. Unused Aeditions card 1031. Grade: 1
-
Shkoder, Velipoja Beach
This should demonstrate clearly that Albania is far from empty. Or, maybe, they are planning for the customers who are yet to come. Unused Aeditions card 1023. Grade: 1
-
I love (heart) Albania
Showing Kruja and Berati (captioned), and (uncaptioned) Gjirokaster’s castle on the lower left. Unused Aeditions card 1051. Grade: 1

Kelmendi’s Beauties, Malesia e Madhe
Wikipedia somewhat starkly describes (we’ve edited for length): “Kelmendi is a northern Albanian tribe and region (Kelmendi mountains, Malet e Kelmendit) in the mountainous borderlands of Albania towards Montenegro, of the wider Malësia-region. Part of the region lies within the Kelmend municipality, and is composed of a Roman Catholic majority and a Muslim minority. Famlies hailing from Kelmendi can also be found in Plav, Skadarska Krajina in Montenegro, and Rugova in Kosovo, where they are Muslim. The name is derived from Saint Clement, the patron saint of the region.” There you go. Unused Aeditions card 1040. Grade: 1
-
Scenery in the Albanian Alps
Older, unused card. Grade: 1
-
View of the town of Bajram Curri
This unused card was published in 1989. Though starting to age, it is still in good condition. We had the good fortune to walk in this same location a couple of months ago (maybe years by the time you see this) on the way out from Valbona, and it doesn’t look all that different. Yet! Grade: 1
-

Unused card 17191. Grade: 1
-
Berat, view

-
The Castle of Berat
Walk around up here during cherry season. You won’t regret it. We have four of these unused cards from 1989. Two are smudged on the backs, from handling (Grades: 3, $4) and the other two are cleaner (Grades: 1, $6).

Berat, Gorica Bridge
Gorica Bridge over the Osum river is a landmark in the city of Berat. It is one of the oldest and most popular Ottoman bridges in Albania. -

No collection of Albanian postcards can be complete without some views of Butrint, now an important UNESCO World Heritage site. It is at once eerie, spooky, and magnificent. Unused card. Grade: 1
-
Butrint, view
This unused 1984 card’s caption just says (in Albanian and English) “View of Butrint”, but quick research tells us this is Ali Pasha’s Castle, a focal point at this location. Grade: 1
