  • Man and bananas

Real-photo card, unused, with the pencilled notation “Guyane” and a rubber-stamped indication: “Printed by 3133 S. Kahn”.  We received this together with a shipment of old cards from French Guiana, so circumstantially that’s where it’s from.  Grade: 2

    Code: 20200001

  • Statue

The back of this unused card is completely blank.  And we had no idea where this scene is.  But our customer and new friend Rene confirmed that the statue represents Simon Bolivar; it’s in Plaza de Bolivar in Santa Marta, Colombia, where Bolivar died.  From the legend at the base, we strongly suspected this was Bolivar, but now we have complete information.  Thanks, Rene!  Grade: 1

  • Sombreros de Cuzco (1971)

We’ve no idea where this unused B&W card should be listed, so it goes here.  Cuzco, the last we looked, is in Peru.  The caption is headed “Guatemala”.  The card was printed in Argentina.  But the photographer, Maria Cristina Orive, is Guatemalan, and she founded a publishing house in Buenos Aires, so that explains it.  Grade: 2
