-
Asuncion, View of the City
Unused A.G.M. vintage postcard 13, not marked by writing but extremely heavily stained on the reverse. Somehow this doesn’t detract too much from the card’s atmosphere, but you should know this in advance. Grade: 4
-
Recuerdo de Paraguay, multiple views
We have two of these old A.G.M. cards #81, neither one postally used. One has the date 1979 written in the address area (Grade: 3, $5) and the other has a long message from 1980 completely filling the reverse (Grade: 4, $4).
-

Somewhat odd (and eye-watering) design on this unmailed A.G.M. card #51. It has a 1975 date written on the back. Grade: 4
-

Not postally used, but with a 1975 date written on the back. Grade: 3

-
Asuncion, Hotel Casino Ita Enramada
About the hotel: it has an Asuncion address, but looking at the picture it is (or was) quite far from town. And even now it has so few online reviews. We are curious. The unused older A.G.M. card 97 is not bad, a little brown with age on the reverse but otherwise quite O.K. Grade: 1
-
Tejedora de Nanduti, Itaugua
Tejedora = weaver, on this unused, browning card. Grade: 2
-
Ñandutí
See also the previous card in the list. According to Wikipedia, “Ñandutí is a traditional Paraguayan embroidered lace, introduced by the Spaniards, that is related to Teneriffe lace. The name means “spider web” in Guaraní, the official, indigenous language of Paraguay.” And here’s an unused card showing it. Some staining along the right reverse edge, somewhat less around the other edges. Grade: 3
-
Balsa Sobre el Rio Tebicuari – Villa Florida
Unused, old, browned card A.75 produced under auspices of Direccion General de Turismo in Asuncion. Grade: 2
-
Baile tipico (Typical dance)
We somehow have four of these old, unused cards No. 79. Oddly, they come from different print runs. The fronts are identical, the reference numbers are the same, and so are the captions. But two come from A.G.M. and are dated 1977. One is not as heavily aged (Grade: 2, $5) as the other (Grade: 3, $4). The third and fourth cards–same photo, remember–have a different publisher, and are slightly less aged (Grades: 2, $5). Your choice! But we can choose the best one for you.

Multiple views
Unmailed old A.G.M. card #164 with a 1979 date written on the reverse. Grade: 4
-
San Bernardino Cervezeria
Once in awhile we do a search to see if we can find other examples of unusual old cards online. This one was complicated. So we will just go with our instinct. It’s unused, and–as you see in the scan–four cut corners. Dated 1904 in the printed caption of the undivided back. There’s a pencilled word on the reverse but we can’t make it out. Having said all that, it is as you see it. Grade: 5
-
Burreritas Paraguayas
Unused old card F.510. Grade: 2
-
Indigenas Tejiendo
Unused, somewhat aging card. Though a bit scuffed on the reverse, still Grade: 2
-
Itapua, Ruinas Jesuiticas de Trinidad
Unused, heavily aged card with a small notch out of the right front edge. It all just makes the card look about as old as these ruins. Grade: 3
-
Salto del Chololo y parejas tipicas
Unused A.G.M. card 136 in excellent shape for its age. Grade: 1
-
International Bridge Paraguay – Brazil
Unused A.G.M. card 28 from 1977, captioned in three languages that all manage to look the same. Grade: 2
-
Lago Ypacarai C217
Unmailed, aged card with a 1975 date written in the message area. C217 is the card’s own reference. Grade: 4
-
Lago de Ypacarai – San Bernardino – Hotel del Lago
Unmailed card not in such great condition: small abrasion above the clouds on the front, and foxing and a 1975 date on the reverse. Now, here’s the thing about the hotel: it seems still to be there, and has one good online Tripadvisor review, but still only ranks #46 of 53 hotels in Asuncion. If the review is so good, and the rank is so low, how does that work? Grade: 4
-
Lago de Ypacarai
Unmailed A.G.M. card #58, with a 1975 date written into the message area. Grade: 3
-
Lago Ypacarai 1610/10
Unused card whose own reference number is 1610/10. Aged but clean. Grade: 1
-

-
Asuncion, Hotel Guarani
Mailed in 1972 with stamp and partial postmark. The card has aged noticeably. And so, apparently, has the hotel–now known as the Guarani Esplendor Hotel, with good reviews for some things (particularly the location) and mixed reviews for others. Grade: 2
-
