This is an old, unused, B&W hotel postcard 222 from Julius J. Hecht’s Platino Series. We think the property may be the forerunner of what is now The Langham Huntington, whose online reviews reinforce the axiom that the more expensive the hotel, the more its guests notice little things that the rest of us might not. If you Google this, you’ll see an impressive variety of similar cards with a wide range of possible dates and descriptions, ranging from 1870 (definitely not) to late 1920’s (probably not then, either). Most likely, +/- 100 years ago, and our card is cheaper than the others anyway. Grade: 2

We have two of these cards, mailed two days apart in 1973 by the same person, to the same person. The cards are in identical condition, with postmark, but one has two different “ordinary” stamps and the other has a single “National Parks Centennial” commemorative stamp. The motel? Survives only on postcards. Grades: 1
