An unused and mostly generic card 00100 21882 promising “A magical realm of fantasy, adventure, music and fun”. Grade: 1
-
Yosemite National Park, The Four Falls
Mailed in 1973 with a 15-cent stamp and postmark, the four falls are identified in the caption (Nevada, Yosemite, Vernal, Bridal Veil) and some statistics are there too. That white area at upper left top is an abrasion. Grade: 5
-
Hollywood, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre
This cinema has for years been one of Los Angeles’s main tourist attractions, though during that time the changes in name and design and fading memories of whose stars those footprints belong to might have dimmed the luster a bit. The card was mailed in 1975, with an 18-cent stamp and airmail sticker. Grade: 1
-
San Francisco, Financial Center
The card was mailed in 1975 with an 18-cent Peter Francisco commemorative and air mail chop. The postmark is there but indistinct. Card has serrated edges. We find this Mike Roberts card B4137 odd because: not on the front, and not on the back, does it identify the city as San Francisco. But we know it is. Grade: 1
-
Squaw Valley, Olympic Ice Arena
Unused Plastichrome card P32998, showing an ice arena used for the 1960 International Winter Olympic Games. Grade: 1
-
San Francisco, Alcatraz Island
A candidate for the category “Mindless” if we had one, this unused Smith News Co. card 5:SF-17 1/2 is otherwise in good shape. Grade: 1
-
San Francisco, Old Mint Museum, Silver Morgan Dollar Display
Unused, official card dated 2010 from the United States Mint, most likely produced by the Museum itself. Grade: 1
-
San Francisco, Chinese Children
With a caption that wouldn’t pass many editors today, this linen Pictorial Wonderland card 8A-H2820 (60) was mailed in 1945 and has its stamp and postmark. Grade: 1
-
Los Angeles, Chinatown
Unused Curteichcolor card 6C-K1596 (L.3) showing a scene that’s nothing close to what we saw the last time we went through there. Grade: 1
-
San Francisco, drawings
Mailed in 2024 with three different stamps, postmark, some decorated tape at bottom reverse, and the sender’s address on a pasted label. Grade: 4
-
San Francisco, Old Mint Museum, Million Dollars in Gold
Unused, official card from the U.S. Mint. Grade: 1
-
San Diego, Downtown and Plane Taking Off
The plane is leaving Lindbergh Field, which we used many times ourselves. This card was mailed in 2024, has three stamps and postmark, and would fit the bill nicely for a contemporary San Diego postcard. Grade: 1
