Electric Boats at Cypress Gardens
A very nice representation of this popular but defunct attraction near Winter Haven. And as the caption on this unused Curteich-Chicago linen card OB-H2277 (C.G. 14) reminded us, “Beautiful photographs may be made from these boats.” Grade: 1
-
St. Petersburg, Banyan Tree

St. Augustine, Oldest wooden school house
The unused card’s slightly sloppy caption doesn’t say whether this building is “oldest” in Florida, or America, or the world, so of course we did the research for you. Wikipedia gives us this: “The Oldest Wooden School House is a wooden structure located at 14 St. George Street … It is touted as being the oldest wooden school building in the United States. The exact date of construction is unknown, but it first appears on tax records in 1716. There are no extant wooden buildings in St. Augustine built prior to 1702 when the British burned the city. The oldest schoolhouse still standing in the United States is the Voorlezer’s House built prior to 1696 and located in New York.” Grade: 1

Tampa, Busch Gardens
Mailed from Canada (not Florida!) in 1993, with two stamps and obscured airmail sticker and also obscured postmark. Despite the consequent grade, the card itself is fine as it shows chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes) possibly reacting to the cost of admission. Grade: 4
-
Everglades National Park – Purple Gallinule

-
Pompano Beach, Palm-Aire Golf and Country Club
This club is still there, and if Google is correct, is one of several with the same name … but we do get this information: “Palm Aire Country Club has a rich history dating back to 1959 when The Palms Golf Course was founded by George Palmer and Harold Broiler, and a 50-room lodge opened in 1962.” The card was mailed in 1969, with 6-cent stamp and clear postmark, and with all due respect to whomever wrote the caption — not the message itself — they were having a great time while they wrote it. Grade: 1
-
Walt Disney World, Crystal Palace Restaurant
Still there, still expensive. Unused postcard, Grade: 1
-
Shells of Southwest Florida
The pictured shells may not be too special (an understatement) but this unused Dexter Press card G-17 (15 x 87571-C) with serrated edges had the good sense to identify them all in the caption on the reverse. That helps! Grade: 1
-
Walt Disney World, The Haunted Mansion
Unused Dexter Press card 79907-C (01110226). Grade: 1
