Rock City Gardens, Lookout MountainIt’s funny about postcards from here. They are all quite cagey about which state this attraction is in. Even Google is not much help, calling it “Chattanooga’s Iconic Tourist Attraction” (Tennessee) yet giving the address as Georgia. We sort of understand why this is, and will randomly assign whatever cards we get to whichever state comes to mind first. This is unused “ShiniColor” card SK3904. Grade: 1

Pine Mountain, Callaway GardensUnused H.S. Crocker postcard CG-51. Grade: 1

-
Atlanta, 1996 Olympics, Opening Ceremony with M. AliOdd. The card was mailed from Atlanta in 1996 with an Olympics 32-cent stamp, and it has the logos of all the Games’ official sponsors. The caption identifies the date (19th July) of the Opening Ceremony. Yet it unaccountably fails to acknowledge Muhammad Ali as the torch-bearer. Grade: 1
-
Lookout Mountain, Rock City Garden, Rainbow HallUnused, older E.C. Kropp card 7805 that makes the garden singular on the front and plural on the back. Grade: 1
-
Pine Mountain, Callaway GardensUnused H.S. Crocker card CG-60 with no mention of the resort on the grounds, but with 2,500 acres in the Gardens, there would be plenty of room to avoid other people. Or there should be. Grade: 1
-
Lookout Mountain, Rock City Gardens, rock formationOlder postcards of Rock City Gardens somewhat preciously never seem to want to say where the gardens exactly are. But Mr. Google is our friend, and we know. Unused Curteich-Chicago card 2C-P2320. Grade: 1
-
Atlanta, United States PenitentiaryUnused Curteich-Chicago linen postcard 5A-H1060 (109), whose caption kindly provides clear directions on how to get there. There would be other ways to find out, but we would not recommend them. Grade: 1
-

-
Atlanta, U.S. PenitentiaryMailed in 1948 (stamp and postmark are there), one cannot really tell if the Curteich-Chicago card 5A-H1060 (109)’s writer was an inmate or not, but the message gives a clue that he was on the outside. Postmark transfer on the front. Grade: 3

Atlanta 1996 Olympics – Coca-Cola (Set of 6)Based on descriptions we see from other vendors, this set of six cards is in its original seal, so we can’t check.
