Unused “Collector Series” card dated 1994, noticeably aging. Grade: 2

Stardust Resort & Casino, and Western Pacific Airlines
Two sad business stories in one card (actually we have two of the unused cards). Western Pacific Airlines was famous for painting their jets in various logos, but the airline went bankrupt in 1998. As for the Stardust, it was demolished in March 2007. These two cards are notably aging, but at least they exist, unlike their namesakes. Grades: 2

Just a couple of problems with this unused card. First, though the caption says “Carson City,” Wabuska is not Carson City. Second, the caption says “Railroad construction began in 1869 and by 1970 regular train service was established …” They meant 1870. The card, however, is Grade: 1

If you’re after state capitol postcards, here’s Nevada on an unused Smith-Southwestern card 0168. We went and saw this not long ago. Carson City is not a big city. The Capitol building is charming and not nearly as big as it looks here. Grade: 1
