49th Hong Kong Arts Festival (2021) – The Plague
Under the circumstances, they chose well. This card measures 6″ x 8-3/4″, was mailed in 2021, and has Hongkong Post’s bilingual Circular Service imprint. “Exempted” means residents receive this bulk mailing whether they opted out or not. Grade: 1

China – free card
… but that’s their description, not ours. Mailed a few years back, with two different stamps and a red postage meter imprint, the card just wants you to receive happiness. So do we! Grade: 1
-
Podpisnie (Подписные) (St. Petersburg, Russia)
The sender of this understated ad card kindly translated the shop details printed on the reverse. Mailed in 2021, with three stamps and postmark. A bit of postmark ink transfer on the front. Grade: 2
-
Bass-Hueter Paint Company, and Grover Cleveland (USA)
Yes, an ancient ad card, and so much more. The sales pitch fills the message area, and the card was mailed in 1911 with stamp and full San Francisco postmark. Contents on the front, punctuated by President Cleveland, make this a genuine historical relic, worth every penny. Grade: 1
-
Valley Springs, Rancho Calaveras (California)
An advertising card, professionally prepared and mailed (as this one was) with Bulk Rate pre-printed postage. The caption — being advertising, after all — is extensive and persuasive. We were curious, and checked online, to find it still exists as a “census-designated place”, whatever that means, and one source wrote: “When it was created in the 1960s, Rancho Calaveras was the largest residential subdivision in the state of California.” For the postcard, Grade: 3
-
Somerset (KY) to Chattanooga (TN), Mountain Scene (USA)
Unused card issued by Gulf Oil, with a significant stain along the bottom edge that goes through the front and reverse. Grade: 4
-
Samuel Good
We weren’t certain how to present this postcard, so we decided to try something different. You’re seeing the reverse. (On the front, a conventional photo from years ago of the Washington Monument.) We think Mr. Good had stock supplies of this and similar cards; or maybe that he was offering to duplicate existing cards a customer might send him for reproduction. You can figure that out, but this is a novelty and you might be interested. We suspect he is no longer in business, though. Usual grading does not apply, for obvious reasons. Grade: 1
-
Duetto (Hong Kong)
Duetto in Wanchai may or may not open again, who knows, but back in 2011 when this card was mailed with Hongkong Post’s English-language Circular Service imprint, the Italian/Indian menu on the other side looked alluring enough. Grade: 1
-
Kilroy Travels (Finland)
Youth and student travel from a Finnish group, on a card mailed in 2021 with stamp, but the clear postmark is at the bottom reverse, not over the stamp. Grade: 2
-
Street Sup, Skate Yoga
An Australian company but this card was mailed from Indonesia in 2021 — stamp, postmark, and attitude. Grade: 3
-
The Dear God Campaign
We’ve no idea at all what this is all about, and the card gives no clues. Neither, for that matter, does Google. The card looks as if it originated in Philippines, and was mailed from there with both a stamp and a postage meter in 2021. Only God knows, and He’s not telling. Grade: 1
-
Clarke Quay, Traders’ Market (Singapore)
Mailed in 2014 with stamp and clear postmark. Over time, this card would be fun to own. Your ancestors will thank you for it. Grade: 1
