Former residence of Buffalo Bill (North Platte, Nebraska)
Unused card 1539 from Barkalow Bros., Railway News Contractors, of Omaha and Denver. The sub-header about Union Pacific RR suggests a connection. Noticeable album indents on corners, otherwise perfectly OK for its age. Grade: 2 -
Big Chief Lodge, Orillia, Ontario (Canada)
The story is worth more than the card. It was mailed (with stamp and postmark) to a USA address, and then forwarded to another, causing the large and full postmark on the front. The sender–the proprietor of the lodge–was a descendant of Buffalo Bill, and the card bears the proprietor’s full signature. Alas, the condition of the card is terrible. Full disclosure! Grade: 5
-

Buffalo Bill Shop, Cody (Wyoming) (card and print form)
We must call this a novelty item. Briefly, the postcard is taped together with an order form from the publisher into which print requirements could be entered on both sides. So the value here is in the process, more than the card itself, which we can’t grade for that reason. The price includes the card and the form (see 10151029B as example).

-
Lookout Mountain, Grave of Buffalo Bill (Colorado, USA)
Among Buffalo Bill postcards, this one is as close to “fun” as it is possible for any postcard with a grave on it to be. In 1943, Margaret wrote to Helen about her visit–stamp and postmark are there–and strongly suggested how great it would be if they could both live there. (Presume she didn’t mean right at the gravesite.) Linen card, with a pencilled line through the street address. Grade: 2
-

-
North Platte, Greetings from Fort Cody Trading Post (Nebraska, USA)
This massive souvenir shop is still there, thriving, and gets a slew of positive reviews. Its own site says: “Fort Cody Trading Post has been a landmark on the Nebraska prairie since 1963! Visitors that came as children are now bringing their own kids or grand kids to savor that sweet touch of ‘Roadside Americana’ that is so quickly disappearing in the U.S.A. A stop at Fort Cody is to many a step back into a more simple and gentle time. To others, it is a brand new adventure to explore and enjoy!” (If we were there, we would buy postcards for sure.) As for this card, it’s Plastichrome P52917, older — but at least after 1963 — and unused. Grade: 1
-
