To Wish You a Happy Christmas (USA)
Embossed, vintage Christmas card mailed in the USA in 1913 with stamp and postmarks from sending and receiving towns. A bit beaten up–or we should say, “well-loved.” Grade: 4
-
A Merry Christmas (USA)
In slightly better condition than other cards of this era, mailed from USA in 1910 with stamp, postcard, and even a readable message. Grade: 2
-
Merry Christmas – THe BeSt WiShes To You
Unused card. Grade: 1
-
Macau Post, Christmas 2013
We’ve indicated earlier that Macau Post prints these cards for each new issue. They measure about 5-3/4″ x 7-1/4″ and are not really postcards but could easily be used that way. Some explanation: we have four of these. What looks like a postmark in the scan is printed on the card. The reverse has full product details in English, Portuguese, and Chinese. One of the four cards also has an extra round purple chop from the post office counter. All cards: Grades: 1
-
New year greeting (Japan)
Unused card. Grade: 1
-
Santa and reindeer (3D)
Lenticular printing with motion effect — the sleigh and the reindeer move up and down. Mailed from Singapore, not really known for its snow, with two uncancelled stamps and Air Mail label. Only because there’s no postmark, Grade: 4
-
Lunar New Year of the Horse (2014) (Maximum Cards) (set of 5) (Macau)
This is a set of five unused Maximum Cards, in a style similar to earlier years, earlier in our lists. “Ano Lunar do Cavalo”, captioned in Chinese and Portuguese, and showing the five different types of horse in the cycle. Only four of the five cards appear in our scan (no more room), but the fifth card is of an “earth” or pottery horse. Eight sets are available. Grades: 1
-
Lunar Year of the Horse (2014) – introduction card (Macau)
This 5-3/4″ x 7-1/4″ item is not strictly a postcard, though could be used as one easily. Macau Post prints these for each new issue during the year. The reverse has full technical information in Chinese, Portuguese, and English. Unused. Grade: 1
-
Lunar Year of the Horse (2014) – introduction card for label stamps (Macau)
This 5-3/4″ x 7-1/4″ item is not strictly a postcard, though could be used as one easily. Macau Post prints these for each new issue during the year. The reverse has full technical information in Chinese, Portuguese, and English. Unused. Grade: 1
-
Osoitepalvelu (Finland)
We didn’t want to create a link so we left off the .net, but this text basically says “find the address for a friend” in the context of: send more Christmas cards. Mailed in 2013 with stamp, faint postmark, and Priority label. Grade: 1
-
Milwaukee, Mitchell Park, Christmas Show (Wisconsin, USA)
Unused card from the Horticultural Conservatory at Mitchell Park. L.L. Cook card 82271, severely degraded on the back. Grade: 5
-
Santa (Finland)
Nice, value-priced Christmas card with Finnish caption, mailed from there in 2013 with stamp, faint postmark, and Priority label. Grade: 1
-
Cayenne, Place du Marche, Bonne Annee (French Guiana)
In 1964, someone wrote a Christmas message to someone else on the back of this card, not postally used however. Serrated edges, and the “Bonne Annee” section is embossed. Grade: 4
-
Tahun Kerbau (Year of the Ox) 2560 – cover (Indonesia)
Issued by Pos Indonesia, a hardback Presentation Pack measuring 6″ x 8-1/4″. Open it up (see 38000238B and C) to see a stamp sheetlet, a sheet of mint stamps, and two postcards. Grade: 1
-
Tahun Kerbau (Year of the Ox) 2560 – cards (Indonesia)
See 38000238A and B.
-
Christmas Customs (Maximum Card) (Solomon Islands)
We suppose if you can only have one card from a country, this is a good one. An unused Maximum Card from Christmas 1983 (though look closely at the postmark, it came out in August), this card has become heavily aged and mottled, especially on the reverse, and everything is explained in detail in the message section on the back. Grade: 3
-
New Year 2001 (set of 5) (DPR Korea)
Starting with this entry, and moving forward, we are offering unused New Year sets from DPR Korea, always of five cards, from different years. For this entry, we just scattered all five cards in the scanner space so you can get the idea. All cards have pre-printed postage and are thin and flimsy — hard to imagine them surviving international mailing, but that was not, we suspect, ever the intention. Grade: 1
-
New Year 2006 (set of 5) (DPR Korea)
Please refer back to our entry 38000240 for the first of our DPRK New Year sets. Here is 2006, also unused, though our scan shows everything differently. We cannot stress enough how thin and insubstantial these cards are–little more than light paper–yet they really are postcards, and have pre-printed postage. Grade: 1
-
New Year 2007 (set of 5) (DPR Korea)
In 2007, someone caught on that the paper stock from previous years wasn’t quite right. For 2007, still not exactly sturdy, but better. Our scan shows parts of all five of the unused cards, each with pre-printed postage. Just FYI, the Korean text at the bottom of the card in the upper left says “New Year Congratulations” (새해를 축하합니다), benignly. Grade: 1
-
New Year 2008 (set of 5) (DPR Korea)
Similar in theme to our previous DPRK New Year entries, and with heavier paper stock than the years before 2007. A set of five unused cards, with pre-printed postage, for domestic use and entirely in Korean. Grades: 1
-
New Year 2009 (set of five) (DPR Korea)
Set of five unused cards, with pre-printed postage for domestic use. Grades: 1
-
New Year 2010 (set of 5) (DPR Korea)
Unused set of five, with pre-printed postage for domestic use. Grade: 1
