Adler Planetarium and Astronomical Museum, Tellurion Clock (Chicago, USA)
Full credit to Wikipedia for this definition: “A tellurion (also spelled tellurian), is a clock, typically of French or Swiss origin, surmounted by a mechanism that depicts how day, night and the seasons are caused by the movement of the Earth on its axis and its orbit around the sun. The clock normally also displays the age of the moon, and the four-year (perpetual) calendar. It is related to the orrery, which illustrates the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons in the solar system in a heliocentric model. The word tellurion derives from the Latin tellus, meaning Earth.” We just thought you wanted to know. Unused sepia card, highly aged. Grade: 2

Heidelberg, Brunnenhalle und Wartturm im Mondschein (Germany)
These old “night” cards can be wonderful, and if you let the atmosphere flow over you they reach a new level of appeal. We like this one so much, we are going to make it the feature card on our home page. That doesn’t always mean the card is in great condition, though. This card was mailed in what might be 1925; the stamp and postmark are there. Looking at the message and address on the reverse, it’s hard to imagine how this could ever have been delivered–but it was, and it wound up here. Grade: 3
-

Welcome to Hong Kong (set)
This is a set of five unused cards creatively sealed in what looks like a foil retort pouch (the type you can buy peanuts in). It can’t be opened without destroying the packaging so we haven’t done that, but we could guess that some or all of the cards look like the photo in the scan. No guarantee! Various stickers on the back of the foil don’t affect the postcards. The clock tower is at the Tsim Sha Tsui Star Ferry pier area. Grade: 1
-
Greetings from Disneyland (Anaheim, USA)
This is one of the very unusual cards that fits into many of our theme categories, so you might see the same card several times. (Sorry about that!) But what a nice card, mailed in 1972 with 6-cent stamp and Anaheim postmark. We would like to repeat the caption in its entirety: “Guests entering Disneyland are greeted by a floral Mickey Mouse and the Santa Fe and Disneyland Depot where a scaled-down model of a passenger train of another era puffs out of the station to take them on a scenic tour of Disneyland.” Official card. Grade: 2
