Showing 161–200 of 212 postcards

  • (Hong Kong) Disneyland, Happiest Place on Earth (set of 12) – front

If you look at this from more than about one foot away, it looks exactly like a hardcover book. It’s not; it’s a box in book format containing 12 lithograph postcards (see our entry 36600157B). Measurements of the whole thing as enclosed in its original protective plastic cover: 7″ high x 6″ across x 1-3/4″ deep. Note that the front logo specifies “Hong Kong Disneyland” and that the spine of the box — not seen in our scan — entitles this “Happiest Place on Earth”. Now please see the scan for 20308923B (Hong Kong category).  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600157A

    Price: $49.00

  • (Hong Kong) Disneyland, Happiest Place on Earth (set of 12) – reverse

First, please see what we wrote about item 36600157A. This is the back of the “book” and shows thumbnails of the 12 cards. We’ve left the original price sticker on, but deleted their price so as not to confuse anyone.   Grade: 1

    Code: 36600157B

    Price: $49.00

(Hong Kong) Disneyland, Happiest Place on Earth (set of 12) – reverse
  • Epcot, Future World (Florida, USA)

We got confused trying to figure out what really happened to Future World but the lead entry in Google told us:  “Future World is (was) one of two “lands” at Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort, divided into two sections, Future World East and Future World West… A unique feature of Future World was its inclusion of a monorail track in the park.  Replaced by: World Celebration; World Nature.   Opening date: October 1, 1982;  Closing date: September 30, 2021.  The unused postcard’s still here, and Grade: 1

    Code: 36600158

    Price: $2.00

    Epcot, Future World (Florida, USA)
  • Anaheim Disneyland, Monsanto Chemical Company Exhibit (USA)

Unused card from Tomorrowland, showing The Chemitron — “symbolizing for visitors the amazing processes of chemistry … that transforms eight basic materials found in nature into thousands of chemicals and plastics”.   Grammar notwithstanding, nature must now use thousands of years to transform those items back into eight basic materials.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600159

    Price: $2.00

Anaheim Disneyland, Monsanto Chemical Company Exhibit (USA)
  • Anaheim Disneyland, Fantasyland (California)

  • Hong Kong Disneyland – The Most Magical Show

Kindly bear with us while we try to describe this.  The item contains a round sticker of Mickey, and a postcard, each in the original (connected) Cello-wrap.  The left part of our scan shows what it looks like when the sticker (not stuck!) lays over the postcard.  The right part of the scan is what it looks like if we flip the sticker up so you can see the (unused) card.  That blank white circle is just the back of the sticker as flipped — it’s not a flaw.  The postcards do specify HK Disneyland on the backs.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600164

    Price: $11.00

Hong Kong Disneyland – The Most Magical Show

  • Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams (set of 13)

To be precise, “13 Royal Fairytales and Postcards,” which we want to assume means at least 13 postcards in this set — but it is in its original Cello-wrap and we have not opened or disturbed that.  Evidence is in our scan:  on the left, the front of the pack.  On the right, most of the back (showing those cards?) but with the original pricing cut off at the bottom so as not to confuse you.  This set is unique to Hong Kong Disneyland, and without free-standing shops here, you need to go there to get the cards.  Two sets are available.  Grades: 1

    Code: 36600171

    Price: $39.00

Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams (set of 13)
  • The Art of Pixar (Volume II)

Anaheim Disneyland, A World on the Move (California, USA)
  • My Ohana – Lilo and Stitch (Hong Kong Disneyland) (set of 5)

This set of five actual postcards remains in its unopened plastic wrap just as it came from Hong Kong Disneyland, with various labels and stickers on the reverse of the wrapping (not on the cards themselves).  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600174

    Price: $19.00

My Ohana – Lilo and Stitch (Hong Kong Disneyland) (set of 5)
  • Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams (3D)

The Castle of Magical Dreams is the latest centerpiece to replace the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Hong Kong Disneyland on 21 November 2020, as part of the park’s 15th anniversary celebration.  The Park issues fewer Park-specific postcards now, but this one is outstanding:  still in its unopened plastic wrap, 3D, unused.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600175

    Price: $14.00

Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams (3D)
  • Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams – wooden postcard

This “postcard” is unopened in its original plastic, with price and proof of sale stickers on the reverse wrap.  As for this wooden postcard itself, we’re wondering what Disney’s designers were thinking when they produced it.  The good news is that it seems unique to Hong Kong Disneyland.  The other news is that the whole thing makes no sense.  That large orange crest on the left is embossed as one would see from sealing wax.  Everything else is printed.  Enough from us on this!  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600176

    Price: $24.00

Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams – wooden postcard

Walt Disney World, The Haunted Mansion (Florida)
  • Orlando, Walt Disney World, Tencennial (Florida, USA)

A special, unused official card showing the parade as Disney World celebrated its “exciting 10th year”.  Well, certainly exciting for us as that helps date the postcard at approximately 1981.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600183

    Price: $4.00

Orlando, Walt Disney World, Tencennial (Florida, USA)
  • Hong Kong Disneyland 15

As we’ve commented a few times already, it is now extraordinarily difficult to find postcards of anything other than the most generic global Disney images in any of Hong Kong Disneyland’s own shops or hotels, or its airport outlet, where there are — right now — none at all.  The story of what we went through to get this one would fill your screen, so we’ll spare you.  But this is an unused card commemorating the Park’s 15th anniversary.  There cannot be too many of these floating around.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600184

    Price: $12.00

    Hong Kong Disneyland 15
  • Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

Cards from the hotels near this park can be surprisingly hard to find, including anything from the park itself.  This has not always been the case, but selfies and smartphones have taken over, making postcards like these even more desirable.  Unused, 5″ x 6-3/4″.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600185

    Price: $4.00

    Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel
  • Hollywood Hotel (Hong Kong)

Please look ahead by a couple of cards, to item 36600188, and see our comments for that.  Same applies to this card of a hotel adjoining Hong Kong Disneyland.  Unused.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600186

    Price: $4.00

    Hollywood Hotel (Hong Kong)
  • Disney Hollywood Hotel, Donald Duck (Hong Kong)

Even Donald would admit this is a modest card, but it has its own story:  it was only available in one place — the Disney gift shop at that hotel — and priced far higher than other cards had been before, because as the sales person said, it’s a “special promotional item”.  We normally associate Special Promotional Items with lower prices, not higher ones; but this unused card is still in its original cello-wrap, with price and proof of sale stickers, so you can see for yourself.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600187

    Price: $12.00

Disney Hollywood Hotel, Donald Duck (Hong Kong)
  • Disney Explorers Lodge (Hong Kong)

We attest that we sourced this from the hotel itself, adjoining Hong Kong Disneyland.   As with so many other mysteries of postcard styles, whoever designed this one did not mention Disneyland or Hong Kong either.  The only way someone will know exactly where the card came from is because the brief bilingual caption on the reverse is in English and traditional Chinese — which would not be the case if the card had come from the Shanghai park, where they would have use simplified characters.  So there!  Unused, and we have three of them.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600188

    Price: $4.00

    Disney Explorers Lodge (Hong Kong)
  • Disney Explorers Lodge (Hong Kong) – map

See our comments for 30901012, as they also apply here.  Unused.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600189

    Price: $5.00

Disney Explorers Lodge (Hong Kong) – map
  • Anaheim, Disneyland

An unused and mostly generic card 00100 21882 promising “A magical realm of fantasy, adventure, music and fun”.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600190

    Price: $3.00

    Anaheim, Disneyland
  • Walt Disney World, Crystal Palace Restaurant (Florida, USA)

Still there, still expensive.  Unused postcard, Grade: 1

    Code: 36600191

    Price: $2.00

Walt Disney World, Crystal Palace Restaurant (Florida, USA)
  • Disneyland – World of Frozen (Hong Kong)

See also entry 36600193, with this “World of Frozen” one being the sort of “mother card” anchoring others in a limited range from Hong Kong Disneyland’s newest (as of now) attraction.   Tick Tock Toys & Collectibles was the name of the shop where the card was sold.  Unused.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600192

    Price: $6.00

Disneyland – World of Frozen (Hong Kong)
  • Disneyland – Enjoy Summer Snow Day in Arendelle (Hong Kong)

The back of this unused card from our local park’s latest attraction makes it clear that it comes from Hong Kong Disneyland.  The card is still in its original cello-wrap, with price tag and proof of sale tape on that wrap.  Unusually, the wrap also bears a legend that “The Postcard is included International Postage.” and indeed the sales clerk pointed that out when we bought it.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600193

    Price: $6.00

Disneyland – Enjoy Summer Snow Day in Arendelle (Hong Kong)
  • HK Disneyland – Sliding Sleighs (Hong Kong)

In other respects similar to our entry 203081079, unused and in its original wrap.  As for the ride, sorry, but ugh.  We waited 45 minutes in a confined queue resembling a cattle dip and settled in for this roller coaster that made a couple of turns and dips and was finished in about 30 seconds.  Once was enough!  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600194

    Price: $6.00

HK Disneyland – Sliding Sleighs (Hong Kong)
  • Disneyland – World of Frozen wooden postcard (Hong Kong)

The unused (wood) card measures about 4-7/8″ x 7-1/4″ and is still sealed inside its original wrapper, which has the original Park price tag and proof of sale tape attached.  Our scan shows front and back.  It may not be clear  that the oval area is apparently able to be punched out and used as a pendant or some sort of decoration.  The card bears reference number FAC-000492-23303 and warns that it is “not suitable for children under 3 years.  Small parts.” in both English and Chinese.  Grade: 1

    Code: 36600195

    Price: $29.00
