People who lived there have so many fond memories of Ipoh. Two cards are available. One, mailed in 1990, has a crumpled commemorative and illegible postmark, with some smudging on front (Grade: 3, $5) while the other, mailed in 1991, has normal Perak stamp and full postmark, and also smudges on front (Grade: 3, $5).
-
Paris, multiple views
Everything else on this card is named in the reverse caption, but not the fountains. Sorry! But very nice that the stamp portrays the Eiffel Tower as well. Full postmark, and address is on an affixed label. Grade: 3
-
Jakarta by night, Hotel Indonesia fountain
Unused contemporary card. Side comment: this must be one of the busiest fountains in Asia, the site of endless demonstrations and traffic jams. If you know no other word in the Indonesian language, you may as well learn this one: macet (traffic jam). Grade: 1
-
Thermal fountain, Hot Springs National Park (USA)
Unused Plastichrome card with perforated top and bottom edges, and what looks like a trim on the front left edge but we’re not sure. In any case, to be safe, we give this Grade: 5
-
The Fountain of Youth, St. Augustine (Florida)
What we are about to describe happens sometimes, a nice rarity: two unused cards are available. They each have the same photo, though one has a brownish tint (to the photo) and one a more blueish tone. The brownish one is Tichnor Bros. K-16786. The other one is Florida Souvenir Company 99619. The captions are nearly but not quite identical. We would like to know if one company plaigarized the other or if they are the same company, or what. But alas we must leave that to you to find out. For each card: Grade: 1
-

Mailed in 1950 with stamp and full Grenoble postmark, the sepia card looks much older but is still in good condition. Grade: 3
-
Paris, Les Fontaines du Palais de Chaillot et la Tour Eiffel
What we can tell from this card, with serrated edges and mailed in 1955 using a postage meter, is that it was a special mailing from the Tower itself, complete with commemorative red medallion on the reverse (probably part of the postage meter) and a special non-postal stamp saying “Souvenir de la Tour Eiffel”. In other words, you only got this card if you went into the Eiffel Tower. But you don’t have to. Grade: 1
-

Maybe the Chinese-language caption says more than the English does. Unused card. Grade: 1

-

-
