Hotel Lotte, Posuk-Jung (Seoul, South Korea)
Mailed in 1989, this card shows the “Colorful display of traditional Korean dance … adding to the memories of ’88.” “BRING HOME THE GOLD!” We assume this refers to the 1988 Seoul Olympics. Of note, the cable address printed at the bottom of the card is “HOTELOTEE” and we wonder whether they meant to spell it that way. Stamp is here, but no legible postmark. Grade: 2

Mailed from Los Angeles in 1910, B&W Louisiana postcard with stamp and full postmark. It’s quite a long note and we wish we could decipher it. We wonder if anyone else could. Some postmark ink transfer on the front. Grade: 2

The St. Charles Hotel, Alfred S. Amer & Co., Ltd., New Orleans
Apart from just showing the hotel, this specialty postcard 16975 was sent by the Alfred S. Amer & Co. outlet at the St. Charles Hotel News Stand and Candy Dept. to notify customers that whatever they had purchased had been sent out. This particular card is unused, but the message area in the back is pre-printed with a message to that effect, with details to be filled in. Grade: 1

Very old, unused B&W card from a city now called Bandung, a nice weekend getaway from Jakarta, especially if you have a helicopter to go to and fro. Not sure if the hotel is still there, though. Grade: 2

International Airport Hotel, San Juan (Puerto Rico)
There’s a small premium for the sheer novelty of this card, which clearly started out in Puerto Rico but was actually mailed from French Guyana in 1956 with two French stamps (being a French territory) and full postmark. The card got to Los Angeles, has been heavily handled, and is now safe in Hong Kong. Until you buy it. Grade: 4

As the caption on this linen card says, “a quaintly inviting room, with log beams and rough plaster walls.” A Fred Harvey restaurant depicted on this card mailed in 1950 with stamp, Grand Canyon postmark, and major ink or album abrasion on upper left front. Grade: 4
