-
Greetings from Quebec, Cape Trinity
This “Private Post Card”, otherwise unattributed, has an undivided back and was mailed in 1905 with stamp and partial postmark. We rarely resort to statements like this, but what you see is what you get. And, yes, there is a lighthouse in the photo but it is as small as it can be. Grade: 3
-
Quebec, Gaspe Nord, entering Matane (Canada)
Unused UNIC card 21684-C (5957) with serrated edges. The lighthouse is not specifically identified. Grade: 2
-
Hamada Lighthouse (?) (Japan)
This older, unused card does say “Hamada – Japan” in western letters on the reverse, and there’s a much longer caption in Japanese. So, we’re guessing. Grade: 2

Sturdy card mailed in 2013 with three stamps and postmark. Grade: 1
-

Cape Hatteras Lighthouse (North Carolina, USA)
The full caption title reads: Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Cape Hatteras National Seashore on North Carolina’s Outer Banks,” and goes on to explain that this is/was the only lighthouse owned by the National Park Service, built in 1870, and at 208′ high, the tallest in the U.S.A. Not certain if all of that is true now, but the caption also points out that “in the foreground are the remains of the second Cape Hatteras lighthouse.” This unused Dexter Press card is dated 1969, aging, and has a small abrasion on the reverse. Grade: 3
-
Portland Head Light (Maine)
Unused. Grade: 1
-

Unused, aging card. Grade: 2
-
Point Atkinson Lighthouse, Vancouver (BC, Canada)
Unused card, just beginning to age. It has a maroon circular “Grouse Mountain Chair Lift” chop on the reverse. We won’t downgrade the card because of that. Grade: 2

This unused old card is in great condition. Grade: 1
-
Cape Elizabeth, Two Lights State Park (Maine)
Once again, Anne sent this card to herself on the first day of issue for the Maine Statehood stamp, with appropriate postmark. Once again, she had trouble with her own address. This card has serrated edges and significant brown fading on the reverse. Grade: 3
-
Rehoboth Beach, Replica of Henlopen Light House (Delaware, USA)
To make it clear, the replica is the lighthouse itself and not the postcard, which is unused but noticeably handled Plastichrome card P12865. FYI the Light was built in 1725, rebuilt in 1764, and finally destroyed by storms in 1926. Grade: 3

Scituate, Old Light-House (Massachusetts)
Mailed from Egypt, Massachusetts (a part of Scituate), in 1914 with stamp and fully readable postmark. (Why “Egypt”? We went to Google for the answer.) This postcard has a long, nice message and is heavily aged but conveys its era very well. Grade: 3
-
Port Huron, Light House (Michigan)
Even now, we wonder about people who go out of their way to spoil a card by writing over the text like this. Anyway, mailed in 1920 with parts of sending and receiving postmarks, and stamp. The card was forwarded, too. Grade: 4
-

What an odd little card, like a tiny diorama, with a colourful caption. Unused, Plastichrome card P66191, suitable as a lighthouse postcard variant. Grade: 1
-
Tillamook Light House, Oregon Coast Highway
We will describe this as accurately as we can, even if we don’t understand it. Linen C.T. Art-Colortone/Wesley Andrews card 8A-H78 (464) with no message or address or extra writing on the back–but there is a 3-cent “Boulder Dam 1935” stamp pasted upside down in the correct area, and that stamp has a few faint lines of postmark on it. Yet clearly the card was not mailed “as-is.” Grade: 4
