Yellowstone National Park, Riverside geyser (Wyoming, USA)
Unused. Grade: 1
-
Yellowstone National Park, Old Faithful (Wyoming)
Among Wyoming postcards, we understand 100% that pictures of Old Faithful are not in short supply. Here’s an unused card at a cost not much more than retail, and this is a lot cheaper than actually going there to buy it. Case made. Grade: 1
-
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kilauea Volcano
To be exact, the Pu’u O’o Vent, on an unused card with the date 11/87 gently marked on the back. Grade: 3

-
La Gran Sabana (Venezuela)
Unused card, captioned “Monte Auyantepuy desde Kavac. Parque Canaima”. The card comes from a tour company. Grade: 1
-
Zossen Stadtpark (Germany)
Zossen has a particular history. We’d rather not go into it (there’s always Google), partly for that and partly because the writer must have felt the same way and completely covered the reverse, caption and all, with a sticker. It was mailed in 2024 with stamp and Luftpost label as well. Grade: 4
-
Kings Canyon National Park, General Robert E. Lee Tree (California)
Unused Mike Roberts card C6967. Grade: 1
-

-
Mt. Rushmore National Monument (South Dakota, USA)
We hope the Monument will remain as “imperishable” as the caption on this unused Dexter Press card 80774-B promises. Slight aging. Grade: 1

-
Yenchao Badland Geopark (set of six+) (Taiwan)
We need to explain. We have two of these sets, in their original envelopes. One has been opened and one is still sealed, so we don’t verify what’s inside. The six basic cards, of which you see three in the scan, are very high-quality real-photo cards captioned in Chinese and English, and with significant explanations of natural phenomena on the reverses. The reason we need to explain is because the open set also includes one more unused card, calligraphy we can’t read at all, with no English caption or explanation. We do not know if this card was added to the opened pack later, or if it would also appear in the sealed pack. Therefore one set has seven cards and the other may only have six, we don’t know. There you go. Both sets are the same price and both sets are Grade: 1.
-
Yuma, Quartermaster Depot (Arizona, USA)
Part of the military outpost of Fort Yuma in the late 1800s, now a State Historic Park, on this unused card. Grade: 1
-
Gillette Castle state park (Hadlyme, Connecticut, USA)
Unused. Online reviews make this look like a good place for families to visit, but you need to know about Sherlock Holmes … Grade: 1
-
Përshëndetje nga Kosova – national park features (Kosovo)
We sometimes observe that one postcard fits many of our theme categories. This is one of those. Bilingual Albanian/English captions identify Kosovo National Park “Sharr Mountains”, Brezna Lake close Koritnik Mountain; Marble Cave (Lipjan); Mirusha Waterfall (Llapusha); Badovc Lake (Prishtina); National Park “Accursed Mountains”; Kucishta Lake; and a Sharr dog in the center. That should keep the search engines busy. Unused. Grade: 1
-
Mu Koh Chang National Park (Thailand)
Mailed in 2019 with three different stamps, two full postmarks, and one blue Airmail label, and captioned in Thai and English. The specific scene is Koh Man Nai, and Mu Koh Chang National Park is in Trat. Altogether, the iconic contemporary Thailand postcard. Grade: 1
-

-
Nanih Waiya State Park (Mississippi, USA)
Greetings from Nanih Waiya State Park, on an unused card whose caption squeezes a lot of information about sacred mounds, the Choctaws, dates, and so on, into seven lines. Deep South card DS-713. Grade: 1
-
Grand Canyon, Winter View from the South Rim (Arizona, USA)
Unused “local” card, with a very minor smudge on the reverse. Grade: 2
-
Sequoia National Park, The Sentinels (sic) (California)
The poorly written caption on this unused Mike Roberts card C23925 says, in its entirety, “The Sentinels, along the General’s Highway, is typical of the largest and oldest trees to be found in the park.” Leaving aside ambiguity about singular and plural, there is one “The Sentinel” near the park’s museum, and then there are “sentinels,” a type of tree more numerous in the area. In any event, the card is OK. Grade: 1
-
Yosemite National Park, Vernal Fall (California)
Unused Curteichcolor card 9C-K2785, showing the Merced River’s 317′ drop. Grade: 1
-
Yosemite National Park, Half Dome (California)
Unused Curteichcolor card 2DK-296 (370), whose caption — then — said it rises 4,892′ above the valley floor, while Wikipedia — now — says it rises “more than 4,737′”. So, technically, both figures could be true. (Think about it!) Grade: 1
-
Death Valley National Monument, sand dunes (California)
Unused Plastichrome card P65973 with a perforated lower edge. Grade: 1
-

-
Mathieson State Park, Ottawa (Illinois, USA)
The caption on this unused “local” card is a bit defensive. We find it amusing, so, exceptionally, we’re going to let you see it all here. (Don’t blame us!): “Just west of OTTAWA and east of LA SALLE-PERU, ILL., easily reached by U.S. Rt. 6 and Interstate 80. The magnificent scenery in this park proves the fallacy of the opinion that Illinois is just a flat agricultural state.” Personally, we find agriculture to be quite beautiful, and necessary. Grade: 1
-
Spring Mill State Park, Munson House, Cordwainer Shop (Indiana, USA)
We weren’t certain what a cordwainer was — despite the clarity of the photo — so we went to our trusty Wikipedia, which told us: “A cordwainer is a shoemaker who makes new shoes from new leather. The cordwainer’s trade can be contrasted with the cobbler’s trade, according to a tradition in Britain that restricted cobblers to repairing shoes.” So now we both know. Unused “local” card. Grade: 1
-
Maquoketa Caves State Park, 17 Ton Balanced Rock (Iowa, USA)
Unused but with significant staining on the reverse. Grade: 4
-
Itasca State Park, Headwaters of the Mississippi River (Minnesota, USA)
Different publishers use minor variations of this photo, and this caption, to describe a location we lived near but somehow never visited. So here’s a clear message to you: don’t put off seeing something famous in your neighbourhood. Unused Dexter Press card 38951-B from 1961. Grade: 1
