  • Dogs and Cats in Taiwan – orange

Unused card, still in the original cellowrap that also includes a separate sheet of five stickers in back.  The round brown circle in the upper right of the scan is a sticker on the wrapper, not on the card itself.  Grade: 1

  • Leisure travel in harbor city (Kaohsiung, Taiwan)

The ultimate novelty postcard is unique in design and impossible to scan clearly, sorry.  Most of those design elements look like punch-outs but the orange oval at the bottom is either pottery or some other hard, raised material.  We can’t say because this card is still in its original cellowrap.  The reverse has Chinese-only captioning, and more information (and a QR Code) on a separate strip.  Complicated!  Grade: 1

    Code: 39700080

    Price: $7.00

  • Pardubice (Czech Republic)

Mailed in 2020 with stamp, postmark, and large blue Pardubice tourism “chop,”  this is a novelty as it is a postcard-sized jigsaw puzzle — we think — as the front is embedded under a clear layer of covering.  So it’s heavy.  It also has a pasted address label and other stickers on the reverse.  Altogether, a very busy postcard.  Grade: 3

    Code: 39700081

    Price: $3.00

  • Samuel Good (USA)

We weren’t certain how to present this postcard, so we decided to try something different.  You’re seeing the reverse.  (On the front, a conventional photo from years ago of the Washington Monument.)  We think Mr. Good had stock supplies of this and similar cards; or maybe that he was offering to duplicate existing cards a customer might send him for reproduction.  You can figure that out, but this is a novelty and you might be interested.  We suspect he is no longer in business, though.  Usual grading does not apply, for obvious reasons.  Grade: 1

    Code: 39700082

    Price: $4.00

  • Hong Kong Disneyland – Castle of Magical Dreams – wooden postcard

This “postcard” is unopened in its original plastic, with price and proof of sale stickers on the reverse wrap.  As for this wooden postcard itself, we’re wondering what Disney’s designers were thinking when they produced it.  The good news is that it seems unique to Hong Kong Disneyland.  The other news is that the whole thing makes no sense.  That large orange crest on the left is embossed as one would see from sealing wax.  Everything else is printed.  Enough from us on this!  Grade: 1

    Code: 39700083

    Price: $24.00

  • Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre

This unused card is a specialty item, made from bamboo.  It’s in its original cellowrap.  Grade: 1

    Price: $10.00

  • Jaws of the Dells (Wisconsin, USA)

This unused card 3TT 30/41 came from the H.H. Bennett Studio and was printed in “W. Germany” using the Foilex technique.   The reverse says it’s “suitable for framing” (as many postcards are) and the impression it gives is one you might imagine if a card had been printed on aluminium foil.  We do not know why that vertical line appears on the left of the scan because it’s not on the card itself.  Grade: 1

    Code: 39700088

    Price: $8.00

  • Wisconsin Dells, The Sunrise Call (USA)

This unused card 3TT 30/39 of the Stand Rock Indian Ceremonial came from the H.H. Bennett Studio and was printed in “W. Germany” using the Foilex technique.   The reverse says it’s “suitable for framing” and the impression it gives is one you might imagine if a card had been printed on aluminium foil.  Grade: 1

  • Dare to Experiment (Macau)

Yes, this is a postcard.  It measures 4″ x 8-1/4″ and exists firmly within its original Cello-wrap packaging.  It seems to have the endorsement of Macau’s Museum of Communications, and the QR Code will probably tell you everything, but it is also sponsored by Correios de Macau so it’s at least semi-official.  And all this leads up to:  no, we have no idea what the design is urging anyone to do.  Unused.  Grade: 1

    Code: 39700090

    Price: $6.00

  • Disneyland – World of Frozen wooden postcard (Hong Kong)

The unused (wood) card measures about 4-7/8″ x 7-1/4″ and is still sealed inside its original wrapper, which has the original Park price tag and proof of sale tape attached.  Our scan shows front and back.  It may not be clear  that the oval area is apparently able to be punched out and used as a pendant or some sort of decoration.  The card bears reference number FAC-000492-23303 and warns that it is “not suitable for children under 3 years.  Small parts.” in both English and Chinese.  Grade: 1

    Code: 39700091

    Price: $29.00

  • Vintage Maze – wood

It took some work to figure this out, but here’s what we know:  sourced in Hong Kong, this unused postcard is made from a light, balsa-like wood and produced by Vintage Maze.  The Chinese text translates as “Rainbow Village” but this is a sort-of engraved perspective of the Choi Hung (rainbow) housing estate in Kowloon.  All those squares are windows or balconies.  Odd.  Grade: 1

  • Football (Soccer) World Cup (pack of 100) (Thailand)

This is a mystery to us.  Here’s why:  we got this pack of 100 unused cards (blank on the reverse; 2 Baht pre-printed postage on each card) in Thailand in June 2024.  The counter person said it is a contest where people can put their contact details and guess the winner, mail the card(s) and hope for the best.  However that yellow label in Thai just says “2022 World Cup Postcard” and gives the names of Thailand Post and the publisher (T.K.S. Technology Public Company).   At upper left, under those red banners it says “The champion is …” and you are to enter your guess.  Well then, anybody who doesn’t guess Argentina for 2022 is going to lose; and 2024 is not a World Cup year, so if someone wants to let us know what’s happening here, we welcome it.  The pack of cards is still sealed in its original Cello-wrap.  Grade: 1
