-
U.S. Highway 59, Lufkin (Texas)
As a courtesy, the caption writers might have identified the church in the centre of the photo–but, no. Unused View-Gram card 27197. Grade: 1

Berlin, Pariser Platz(t)
Mailed in 2011 with stamp, postmark, Luftpost, and address label taped on. We know there must be significance to the extra “t” but Google was no help on this. If you would like to let us in on the joke … Grade: 4
-
Entering Albuquerque (New Mexico, USA)
The caption generously calls this “a broad panorama of the beautiful city of Albuquerque” but for that you need to squint. Mailed in early 1970s with 6-cent stamp and partial postmark. There are significant abrasions on the front. Grade: 5

-
Gruss vom Airport Frankfurt (Germany)
An older card, and while we might have thought they would show a Lufthansa flight and not Aerolineas Argentinas, it’s fine with us. This was mailed in 2012 from Ukraine (not Germany!) with four stamps and Kiev postmark. Some postal handling is evident, but this is about as international as any postcard can get. Grade: 3

-
Eletäh sit viel elimäelki
The sender of this card didn’t like it at all, but we love it–purely “local” and a nice change from snow and reindeer. The front caption defeated Google Translate, but the writer says it means “We’re still alive!”, all referring to the Raavuorisoitto festival. Like we said–local. Mailed in 2013 with stamp and Priority. Grade: 1
