-
The Hong Kong University of Science & Technology
Established in 1991, and out there in Sai Kung. Unused card. Grade: 1
-
First School House in South Dakota, Vermillion
This card is very old, and looks it. Mailed in 1910, the stamp and long upside-down message are there, along with the postmark. Exceptionally, we repeat an excerpt from plaintalk dot net here: “The first permanent schoolhouse in Dakota Territory was constructed in late 1864. By … 1880, the school had outserved its usefulness and became a private residence for a family. It was later used as a paintshop, and during the latter part of 1881, according to newspaper accounts, the building was torn down and its logs transported to the country.” We just found that interesting. Grade: 3
-
Rushville’s Old School Building, Burned, 1893 (Illinois, USA)
Here’s the short story: there is more than one Rushville, but this old card doesn’t have any attribution, or say which one. A kind gentleman who owns a superb website in Rushville, Nebraska says it wasn’t their school. Then a kind lady from the Rushville (Indiana) library said: no, not us, it’s Illinois! Unused and heavily aged. Grade: 2
-
Harvard Medical School, Boston (USA)
A nice, mailed card from the early 1900s, with stamp, and marred only by the swath of ink transfer you see on the front. Are you a Harvard Medical School alum? Come on, step up … Grade: 4
