Purdue University, Heavilon Hall (La Fayette, Indiana, USA)
We told you we tell the stories, so here’s one for you about this card, mailed in 1942 with stamp and local postmark: Heavilon Hall was dedicated in 1894 and burned down four days later. Rebuilt by 1895, it (what you see here) lasted until 1956 when the building was demolished–with clock and bells placed in storage. The original bells and restored clockworks have been incorporated into the latest Heavilon Hall, completed in 1995. So there! Grade: 1

One of a series of unused cards, in similar style, issued by China Post for the 2011 Universiade Shenzhen events. Oregon State University, “Eightball” the octopus (Newport)
Unused card 76167-C (OSU-115) of a “friendly octopus” at the Oregon State University Marine Science Center. If he was here in Hong Kong, his nickname would have been “tasty,” not “friendly.” The card is unused, and though we think that white area on the top front is part of the card, we are not 100% sure it’s not an abrasion, so we are being conservative with Grade: 4.
