-
Beijing 2008 Olympics (set)
A set of two unused cards from 2007, in China Post’s original packaging. Both cards have pre-printed postage on the reverse, and serial numbers denoting that they were to be entries in a lottery. In addition, the red card in the set has a large round (and red) printed seal in the message area, saying “Best wishes from the on-site opening ceremony” in Chinese and English (see 37100044B). Very nice addition to your collection of Olympics postcards. Grade: 1

A poster on a postcard, mailed from The Netherlands (not France) in 2013 with stamp, postmark, and address label affixed. Grade: 4
-
Kiel und die Kieler Forde (Germany)
We do not know the reason why this card, which is clearly a postcard, has such irregular edges or that circular notch at the top. The whole thing measures about 5″ x 7″ and our best guess is that it was cut from a postcard book. In any event it was mailed in 2013 with three stamps, and postmark, and the location was the site of 1936 and 1972 Olympics. Grade: 4
-
Helsinki, Olympic Stadium (Finland)
Mailed in 2013, with stamp and postmark and orange Priority label. Grade: 1
-
Disney-related school supplies (PR China)
Where to start … issued by PRC’s State Postal Bureau in 2000, this unused card has pre-printed Bejing 2008 Olympics postage. They were really planning ahead, and we had to go to Beijing to get this. Some smudging on the back but a genuine prize. Grade: 2
-
Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Bid Committee
Here’s an unusual, unused card, with a serial number (3002), apparently promoting the Olympics bid. The captions are only in Chinese, but as we know, the bid was successful and so were the Games. Grade: 1
-
Lunar New Year 2008, and Olympics (PR China)
We wish we could read this. It’s a Chinese New Year lottery card, serial numbered for a long-finished contest. Unused, with pre-printed postage and issued by the State Postal Bureau. Heavily handled but otherwise unmarked. Grade: 3

-
Sochi, Russki Gorki Complex (Russia)
Two of these 4-1/8″ x 7-5/8″ cards are available, each mailed in 2014. One endured some postal battering along the way; apart from pre-printed “B” postage, there’s an extra New Year stamp, along with pasted address and one more label affixed (Grade: 4, $2). The other has two stamps, Par Avion label, and postmark (Grade: 1, $3).
-
Sochi 2014 Olympics Speed skating (DPR Korea)
Definitely a 2014 DPRK card and not Russian, with the back just saying “Speed skating” in Korean and english. The pre-printed postage however is big enough to accommodate skiers, the Sochi website, the Olympics logo (more than once), and the official name of the Games. Yes, that was possible. Grade: 1

This is Lee Lai Shan (“San San”), a windsurfer until now one of three Olympic medal winners from Hong Kong and the only one to achieve gold. Unaccountably, the card chose not to identify her. But we did. Grade: 1
-
Los Angeles Olympics 1984 (set of five) (Maximum Cards) (DPR Korea)
On the face of it, five unused maximum cards issued in 1983, with enormous and beautiful stamps, and captions in Korean and English. All or part of each card appears in the congested scan. So far, so good. However DPRK, along with 13 other nations, boycotted the 1984 Games in retailiation for a U.S.-led boycott of the previous 1980 Moscow Games. One might think these cards would have been withdrawn from sale, but not so. Please note, the postmark cancellations are all there but very difficult to read. Overall, a most unusual set. Grades: 1
-
Olympics (set of two) (Maximum Cards) (DPR Korea)
Two seemingly unrelated unused maximum cards from 1994, though they do commemorate the 100th IOC Centennial. One shows the Tower of Signal-fire of the 1st International Olympic Games, and the other shows J.A. Samaranch, chairman of the International Olympic Committee. Captioned in Korean and English.
